Mirena IUD questions?!

Question: Mirena IUD questions!?
I was checking out the Mirena web site and it was saying candidates are women who have had at least one child!. Will my doctor not do the procedure if I havent had children!? If so is it because it makes you at higher risk for not being able to have children in the future!? I am married but I am only twenty and the 5 year birth control with no pill/patch etc sounds great and I have heard excellent things about it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You do NOT have to be a mother to get one, plenty of people who have never had children get IUD's!. It typically does NOT effect your future fertility after having it removed, however, with the Mirena IUD, it releases a small amount of hormones into your system which may take a while to clear out after you have had it removed and for some women, it may take up to a year to get pregnant after having it removed!. The only problem with you NOT having children previous to the insertion is the level of pain you will experience!. I had a baby and had my copper IUD put in when she was 11 months old, so just a month ago, and I took a Vicodin before I went in and still found it to be pretty uncomfortable, but not very painful, some women who haven't had children who have it put in are in more considerable amounts of pain during the insertion process, but that seriously only lasts like five minutes and is TOTALLY worth it for good reliable birth control that you never have to worry about!. Also, not having had children, you are at a bit of a higher risk of expelling the thing, but if YOUR doctor won't do it, someone will, there is no serious risk to your health in doing so!. I would say go for it, here is this really good website about personal IUD experiences, it helped a lot in my decision to get one, and many of the women on the site have not had childrenhttp://community!.livejournal!.com/iud_div!.!.!.

I agree with THE EMPEROR!.!.!. i had the copper IUD (paraguard) put in about four months ago, because i too fell in love with the thought of a hassle free birthcontrol method (Paraguard lasts 10 years)!.

My doctor explained to me that the IUD was not recommended for women who were planning on having children within 2-3 years of having the IUD inserted!.!.!.

Im 23 and have never had any children!.!.!. My doctor did also mention that insertion is typically more painful if you have not had children!.!.!. and it was, but its definitly worth it!.!.!.

because the copper IUD dosent have any hormones i dont have to worry about the weight gain and mood swings i would get while on other birth contol methods!.

As with all birthcontrol the IUD has potential to cause issues with your fertility but overall its just as safe as all the other birthcontrol methods out there!

Good luck!.!.!. i highly recommend the IUD!Www@Answer-Health@Com
