Answers:
you need to start doing pelvic floor exercises:

pull your abdominal muscles tight (as if you are trying to stop a wee mid flow) hold it for the count of 5 and release, repeat 10 times!.

keep doing this as often as you can until you can hold the muscles tight for the count of 30 (repeat 10 times)!.

this will (i promise) strengthen your muscles til you can control your bladder again!. Childbirth puts a great strain on these muscles and pelvic floor exercises are brilliant for toning everything up again!. If things don't improve you should see your doctor as you may have a surgical problem!. Good luck with the exercises - they worked for me!Www@Answer-Health@Com

My wife is just like that!. After our first son, it seemed to only take a week or two, but my second which is now 6 months old, she is just now getting god control back!. The doctor didn't really explain it, but mentioned the cervix having something to do with it (*I think, I had my husband ears on and wasn't paying attention!) She wore pads until she got control back!. Don't be down, at least its not the backside you can't control! (*I'm not much of a pep talker)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Kerry K and other like her have the right answer!.!.!. Read Kerry's again as it says it best!. The "Kegal" or pelvic floor muscles can get stretched and may have a hard time recovering!. The exercises alone can often resolve the problem!.

If the exercises don't work, then chances are good that surgery will be needed!. Most bladder control medications solve a different problem than the one you most likely have!.

Get your ob/gyn or midwife involved in this conversation right away!. Ultrasounds and other tests could help determine if exercise alone will have a good chance of fixing this!.

Until then, wear pads or bladder control pants to allow you to go do your normal routine!.

Congrats and Best Wishes!

I too am a pee myself-er after I had my children
Mine is if I cough, sneeze or laugh, and sometimes if I try to hold it, I cant!.
but it is still early for you and the muscles have to get back to normal which takes about six weeks!.
Get you some Pads,(they make good ones now for that} and you will be back to normal in no time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to start doing pelvic floor exercises!!! It is another one of those unpleasent side effects of pregnancy!. Some women have no problems but others have more trouble!. Contact your Dr/Midwife for information if you are unsure on what exercises you should be doing!.
Also make sure you are only doing the few that can be commenced prior to your 6 week check-up!. All the best!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is normal, unfortunately!.!.

tell your midwife or doctor!.!. i would say you have nothing to be embarrased about, which you shouldnt be!.!. but thats easier said than done!.

think about what your body went through giving birth!.

you can read up on the internet or books about exercises to tighten up the muscles down there!. your midwife or doctor will also be able to help!.

in the mean time, if you know your going out why not try to limit how much you drink!?!. its also worth getting some good pads!.

Hey Llama!

This is actually very common after childbirth, many women suffer with it following a baby!. Giving birth vaginally obviously stretches the muscles of the vaginal wall and these need time to get back to normal!. If you've had a caesarean, you lose the strength in your stomach and core body and this can lead to losing some pee too!. Not to mention carrying a baby around with you for 9 months stretching and pushing every which way and all the hormones whoosing around!. It's amazing women even walk again!! Don't forget, it's not been long since the birth of your little one - things'll be out of whack for a bit!

Do you have a health worker that comes round to check you and the baby (not sure where you are based)!? Either ask her or go and see the doctor and explain your symptoms!. Please don't be embarrassed, I promise they've seen it millions of times!. They'll be able to explain the best way of performing pelvic floor muscles to strengthen up those muscles again!. Advice on possible medications if necessary, and even a little check-up to ensure all is okay, no little infections etc!.

If you can get some absorbant pads for the time being, it will give you a little more confidence and keep you drier for the time being!.

All the very best, don't panic and please don't be scared!. It is so very common!. But get the right advice and you'll be right as rain soon!.

Congratulations on the baby and take care!.
