Would HCG Level of 4 rule out an ectopic pregnancy?!

Question: Would HCG Level of 4 rule out an ectopic pregnancy!?
So i was getting positives (3 to be exact) on HPT over 1week ago, however i started bleeding last week and bleed for 3 days straight like a normal pregnancy, had a negative urine test at hospital last week but a faint positive at doctors the following day!. Again had a negative urine at gynae in hospital last night so had HCG Levels checked using blood test!. Was having lower abdominal pain near the centre but more to the right-hand side!. HCG blood result came back at 4, which they class as negative!. They said if it was an ectopic pregnancy the levels would be much higher than this!. Is this correct!? I don't think i could cope if it was something like that!. I am just so confused at the minute and any replies and opinions would be greatly appreciated

Answers:
The most likely reason for the scenario you described is a miscarriage, not an ectopic pregnancy!. You did not say how long you had missed your period when your urine tested positive!. If it was just several weeks there would be no real large tissue passed w/ the miscarriage, this was probably the bleeding you experienced!. Your HCG leves go up at a set rate exponetially the more pregnant you are!. But your body stops producing the hormone HCG when you miscarried!. It would be in the thousands if you were still pregnant in any way, whether it was in your uterus or in a fallopian tube as it is with an ectopic!. You were pregant, you likely misscarried, and are no longer pregnant!. It is not an ectopic pregnancy!. However if you continue to have pain, especially if you were 4-6 weeks along or more you should go back to the doctor, you could have not passed all the pregnancy and it can become infected inside you!. Just listen to your body it will tell you what to do!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
