I had one a few weeks ago and was expecting some pain during and after the procedure!. I took some pain killers before as advised!.
I was very surprised that the procedure hurt a lot!. Actually I was embarrassed at my reaction - it hurt so much that I couldn't help crying out in pain and crying!. I apologized repeatedly to the doctor, but she made me feel better by saying everyone reacts differently and I should be unconscious if ever have the test again (as if that will ever happen)!. She got me some juice since I felt light-headed!.
After sitting in the examining room about a half hour, I felt much better - went back to work with no pain afterward and no bleeding!.
Anyway - I don't mean to scare anyone - I believe the doctor that I have nothing to be ashamed of and had an extreme reaction!. The biopsy was OK and also had a colonoscopy that was OK (was unconsious for that)!.
All the doctors I have talked to agree that the hysterectomy is the way to go!. I've been having horrible periods for a few years, just when I thought everything should be slowing down for menopause!. The heaving bleeding (often in clots) have left me anemic, tired, and afraid of making a mess!.
I was surprised at how much the endometrial biopsy hurt!. I actually yelled a cuss word REALLY LOUD!. My doc had said there would be "some discomfort" (which I translated as, "This will hurt a bit") but I sure wasn't expecting to feel like someone had stabbed me!.
