When you use a tampon for the first time, do you have to pop your own cherry?!

Question: When you use a tampon for the first time, do you have to pop your own cherry!?
My mother told me this happens, but then again she's never used them before because she doesn't like the idea of them, so I thought I'd double check!.

Also, does using tampons hurt!?
Do they feel more "clean" than pads!?
I'm sick of using pads, they're really disgusting to use!.

Thanks!.

I'm 15, by the way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm unsure why so many people have said "no" in response here!. Your mother is correct!. I will do my best to recall what I learned in Physiology about female anatomy!.

When people refer to "popping their cherry" they are talking about tearing the hymen!. The hymen is a thin membrane that only partially covers the vaginal canal!. It is often either straight across the middle or off to the side slightly!. If yours is off to the side, against the wall of the vagina, then you may be able to use a tampon without tearing the hymen!. If yours is straight down the center then it will in fact tear when inserting the tampon for the first time!.

This sounds much worse than it actually is, and it is possible that you do not even need to worry about it!. It is likely, if you are active, that your hymen is no longer intact!. Many people of other cultures have ceased checking women before marriage for a hymen in order to prove that they are virgins, especially if they know she was active growing up, because many things can cause a girl's hymen to no longer be intact (sex is only *one* thing that can cause it)!. Activities such as horseback riding, dancing, yoga (or other stretching), riding a bicycle, ballet, etc!. can also cause the hymen to break!. Usually we do not notice it when it happens during one of these activities!.

If a tampon is inserted correctly then you should not be able to feel it at all!. They now make slender ones for young women (and as a lighter protection for all women, for days where the bleeding is minimal)!. These may be the best ones for you to begin with!. You will find that it's very difficult to make a tampon fit incorrectly, unless you do not place it far enough back!. Even if that happens, it is not painful, merely uncomfortable (like a more personal version of having something stuck in your teeth ::lol::)!. I have never had a tampon cause me pain, and I began using them when I was 13 (I'm 29 now)!.

Do they feel more "clean" than pads!? Yes, very much so!. I am a stickler for feeling clean (I own a bidet) and I have always hated pads Tampons, if changed regularly, will allow you to feel much cleaner than you even could with pads!. Make sure you change them every 4-8 hours (or sooner if you are bleeding heavily) so as to avoid the possibility of toxic shock syndrome (TSS)!.

I wish you the best in your first experience using tampons!. I know I was much happier when I started using them, and although I also use Instead, there isn't anything I prefer to use, both because of the comfort and the cleanliness!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, usually you can put a tampon in without breaking the hymen, because the opening is big enough for a tampon and finger with the hymen still intact!. They also make slimmer tampons for this!. If you use them correctly and follow the instructions, get the angle right etc!. then it is unlikely to break your hymen!. Even if it does, it's not that big a deal, it doesn't mean you're not a virgin or anything!. Lots of girls break their hymen before sex!.

Give it a go and see how you feel, most women prefer them to pads for various reasons!.

When I used them for the 1st time I was already sexually active!. Yes it felt alot cleaner to me and it did not hurt however I was not a virgin!. I would not recommend it to girls who are virgins bc it may breack your heymen if its still intact!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Tampons are comfortable only if you get them positioned right!. if it feels uncomfortable you may have to remove it and try another one!. but you cant lose your virginity to a tampon!. and yea!. they do feel more "clean" than pads!. good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
