?SA-Spur,
No on the contrary its the other way around!. The weight gain comes from being on the pill!. Right along with every dangerous side effect known to man!! Which is why I changed to the IUD, many years ago!. And I swore by it!! Never once got pregnant while on it! I had to change because even though my BFF had her own clinic with her husband and introduced me to one of the safest birth control pills of its time!. I still had many cysts on my overies!. So, I opted to get off all together, and use the IUD!. Now, all's I have to worry about is Hormonal pills!.HaHa!! I'm now at the Menopausal age! Thank-God I finally made it!! YEE HAW!! haHa!! It seemed like as soon as my menzies stopped I got one month break from periods then my youngest daughter starts her period for the first time! So, I only got a break from buying feminine products for that time of the month for only one month! Darn it! Oh well, I'm just glad to be done with mine! So, I would be more concerned that its the pill making you gain weight then the other way around, for sure!! I did!. I gained weight from the pill every time! There are so many other safer things on the market now!. I would try anything but, nowadays! Good Luck to you hun! Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hope this helps!

"(WebMD) For overweight women, birth control pills don't offer as reliable protection against pregnancy as one might think, new research shows!.

"Overweight women have about 60 percent higher risk of pregnancy than normal-weight women," Victoria L!. Holt, PhD, MD, an epidemiologist at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and the University of Washington in Seattle, tells WebMD!.

Holt's study, funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, appears in the latest issue of the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology!.

Take it seriously, says Paul Norris, MD, director of reproductive health at the University of Miami School of Medicine!. Norris's research, which he reported a year ago, had a similar conclusion!.

"Obese women have higher risk for [birth control] pill failure," Norris tells WebMD!. "I tell patients, 'Use the pill, but use a condom as a backup for more protection!.' A lot of people are doing that anyway, especially if they are at risk for HIV!."Www@Answer-Health@Com

On the other hand, being overweight can make you infertile!. Check out info on PCOS (PolyCysticOvarianSyndrome)!. I am seeing a fertility specialist because I can't seem to get pregnant and was told that my weight was a factor in my infertility!.

Women are only fertile 3-5 days out of a cycle!. Check out ovusoft!.com to prevent or encourage pregnancy, whatever your stance!. If you do decide to chart, it's easy and free at fertilityfriend!.comWww@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think that being over weight affects the meds!. Not taking them properly will cause delay!. Many BC formulas are known to have some type of steroid in them to make you gain weight so if you're not in the mood to gain some protective pounds I suggest you try another solution!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
