Follow all 5 steps:
Step1:
First wash your hands and unwrap your tampon!. Stand or sit in a comfortable position!. Some women prefer to place one leg on the toilet seat or tub, or bath while others prefer to squat down!. Some women find it easiest to crouch down with knees apart!. Hold the applicator (where the ridges are on the tube) with the thumb and middle finger of one hand!. Hold the middle of the tampon, at the spot where the smaller, inner tube inserts into the larger, outer tube!. Make sure the string is visible and pointing away from your body!.
Step2:
Using second hand spread the folds of skin around the vaginal opening!. Place the tip of the outer tube of the tampon applicator (not the end with the cord hanging out) in the opening of your vagina!.
Step3:
The vagina slants upwards towards your back!. So, gently slide the applicator in an upwards and backwards direction!. (It sometimes helps to slightly rotate or twist the applicator from side to side)!. Stop pushing when your thumb and finger touch your body
Step4:
Still holding the applicator on the ridges, push the bottom of the small tube completely up inside the big tube!. This slides the tampon out of the applicator and into your vagina!.
Step5:
Hold tightly onto the two tubes that are now one inside the other!. Gently take out both applicator tubes together!. (Wrap them in tissue and put them in a bin!. The cardboard tubes can also be flushed away!.) You'll see that the cord of the tampon is now hanging down outside your body!. Make sure that the string hangs outside of the vaginal opening!. Later, when you are ready to remove the tampon, hold the string and gently pull it downward until the entire tampon is out!.

The Professor up there did a pretty thorough job of explaining so I won't try and do the same!. I just want to add that once you do get it figured out and it's more comfortable, make sure you change your tampon frequently!. Don't go more than 8 hours without changing it!. This can lead to Toxic Shock Syndrome, a rare but serious condition that could result in death!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok well im not going to repeat everything everyone else is already saying!. lol try getting a lite absorbency tampon!. it may not be filled up enough, that why it stings!. but if it stings when your putting it in, relax, take a deep breath!. it shouldn't hurt!. make sure your using a plastic tampon though!. cardboard hurt!. and make sure its unscented!. if it still hurts and you've tried EVERYTHING, don't use tampons, there just not for you!. or u can see a doctor!. like your mom's gynecologist!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

oh wow!. ive had my period for about 5 years and have never had the courage to use one, but kudoos to you for trying! i would stop using them right away though!. who is teh doctor dude, man he is everywhere!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably too big!. If it stings, there is something not right!. You should ask your mom, or another experience female you know, about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
