Stay on or get off birth control?!
Question: Stay on or get off birth control!?
a year ago I started taking Alesse, and it made me gain 10 pounds!. but then I switched to Tri Cyclen Lo, which ALSO made me gain another 10 pounds! (20 in total)!.
Lately, I've been having really bad stomach pains and I get really bad cramps a week or two before I get my period!
My question is, should I switch birth controls, stay on the one I have now, or get off them completely!. I've read that Yasmin does not have the same effects as other pills concerning bloating, water retention etc!.!. & I'd rather not get off them because I use them for acne and for protection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm on Yasmin, and have been for over a year, and I didn't gain a pound!. Around my period I still do get a little bloated feeling (like the week of) but it goes away a few days after the placebo week!.
Not sure if they work for acne though!. It says they do but I'm still getting some!. I don't have a severe case though (just 4 or 5 around my period tops) so maybe they do work for severe cases!.
As for cramping though, well mine are still so bad I had to skip my class this morning!. Usually Advil will work (liquid gels especially) but when unmedicated the pain is still severe!. These usually last me a couple days, then again I'm in the percentage of women who get bad cramps!. So if you've never had a problem with them I'm sure Yasmin won't give them to you!.
So try switching!. If you can talk to you doctor and maybe he has another suggestion for you!? If not then yeah go for Yasmin and monitor your weight, see if it has improved!. Did you change your eating habits when you got on the pill!? Are you sure it is from the pills!? Switching should help you decide this!.

If birth control pills are your only form of protection, you need to reconsider your strategy since they do not protection you from HIV or other STDs!. As for acne, which would you rather have: a heart attack from excess weight or perfect skin!?
Retrain you significant other to start wearing condoms, unless you are allergic to latex!. As for the acne, go to a dermatologist, there are lots of acne meds out there: retinol, doxycycline etcWww@Answer-Health@Com

i'm on Lo too and it makes me have headaches and i spot between periods and i cramp alot too!. maybe its just the medicine!. i would call him and talk to the doc about it!. he may can give u something diff!. dont ever stop taking meds suddenly unless u suspect a allergic reaction to it!Www@Answer-Health@Com
Go see you doc and tell him all of the side effects that you have been having!. Don't just stop taking it entirely!. He/She should be able to prescribe you with the right birth control for your body!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
