Question: Does anyone other than me and a few other people think that mammograms may cause breast cancer!?
I have had mammograms about 15 times or more!. Every once in a while they say they are abnormal!.!.!. My problem is with the radiation!.!.no matter how small!.!.the pain of the vices squeezing your breasts to death!.!.the pain!.!.Isn't it possible that the mammograms themselves could cause breast cancer!?!?!? It doesn't run in my family!.!.I have five children!.!.!.breastfed all of them!.!.eat pretty good!.!.!.WHY Do I EVEN NEED ONE!.!.If I were to get breast cancer I would most likely think the mammogram caused it!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, regular mammograms throughout a lifetime *can* cause cancer (it's an x-ray, and the radiation *can* do nasty things to cells sometimes)!.!.!. but the risk is so tiny in comparison to the risk of leaving natural cancers undetected that there's no point whatsoever to avoiding mammograms for that reason!.
Think of it like this: the number of cancers caused by all mammography over the past 30 years worldwide is smaller than the number of cancers that will be detected by mammography in the next month and *cured* because they were detected!.

No I don't think that would be a cause!.Every women in my family even two men got breast cancer!.My mother is on her fourth surgery!.But somehow my Aunt never had it!.And usually in my family it starts showing up by 26 yrs old and I still don't have it!.Sometimes it could be in your family from many generations before you one single person could have had it!.You never truly know!.You can only really know what your odds are to get it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
It's the best way to detect cancer early!. The benefits outweigh the risks!. If you wait until you notice a lump, and it's an aggressive tumour, you're toast!.
The amount of radiation isn't that much!. Do you get dental X-rays!? Sure there's a chance it could mutate a cell!. But if your cells tend to become cancerous that easily, believe me you should be getting a regular mammogram to spot it early!.
Why don't you ask this question directly to the radiologist!? I'm sure they could give you the best information!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
