Ok so I have been on this birth control for a year now!. I take it normal every day and I know when I get to the inactive pills it will take 3 days to start my period!. So within those 3 days that I'm taking the green pills and having sex can I get pregnant!? I figured you can't that's why its called birth control but my boyfriend won't believe me! I've been searching for a website that will prove I can't but I can't find one!. Does anyone know for a fact that I can't get pregnant and why!? It would really calm my paranoid boyfriend! The pill primarily works by preventing you from ovulating!. It tricks your body into thinking it's released an egg already, so doesn't release another one!. If there is no egg to fertilize, there is no possibility of pregnancy!. When you take the inactive pills, the levels of hormones drops, triggering the shedding of the lining of the uterus!. There is still no egg present, and no possibility of pregnancy!.
If you have more than the seven days without active pills in a fortnight, then the level of hormones may be low enough for long enough to trigger ovulation - which is why it's bad to miss pills in the week before or after the inactive pills!.
