i just started my period!. this is my second cycle!. my period is dark dark brown and there is possibly a hint of black in there! ew! is something wrong!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Calm down, first off it is only your second cycle so your anxiety seems to be very high!. Blood turns brown when exposed to any form of oxygen, so your dark dark brown blood may be just because (since this is only your second period) your body is not regular yet and some of the blood was exposed to oxygen!. The dark black probably is not black but just blood that looks very dark!. A lot of the times blood clots can look dark dark red in color and can be thick and more mucus like compared to the rest of the normal blood!. Another question to ask yourself is, are you sexually active, if so you might want to look at a few stds and be sure it is not one of them!. ( I am assuming you are not sexually active)!. Also if it makes you feel any better when I got my first period the color of the blood for me was dark brown as well, and for a little while it did not flow well when I went to the bath room!. However now my period is perfectly fine, and is very predictable and regular!. If you are very concerned you could see a doctor, but most of the stuff you are seeing is the uterine lining which sheds during your period with blood clots which probably formed during your first menstrual cycle!.
