i did the day after i got it pierced!. it didnt affect me in any way!. you can drink, smoke anything when you get it done!. just use non aocohol mouth wash and rinse after you smoke!.
i have had my tongue pierced for a year, and i smoke cigs and pot, and drink regularly, and i havent had any infections!.
MAKE SURE YOU MOUTH WASH ABOUT 4 TIMES A DAY!. and you'll be cool!.

I did after i got my lip done, which is pretty much the same thing, just rinse with some antiseptic mouthwash for about 30 seconds after you're done smoking and you'll be fineWww@Answer-Health@Com
