Is it normal to be in THIS much discomfort after pap?!

Question: Is it normal to be in THIS much discomfort after pap!?
I had a pap smear done on the 25!.!.!. my first in about 7 years, so my memory's a bit hazy lol!. The examine itself didn't bother me!.
But now I feel like I'm going to start my period (my last one was just 2 weeks ago)- my stomach and back hurt!. I spotted a tiny bit the day after the exam but it stopped!.
I couldn't even make love to my hubby this morning because of pelvic discomfort!.
Will Mortin help (seeing how its NOT the start of my period) or do I just have to grin and bear it!.!.!.How long should I expect it to last!?

ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

I also get a lot of discomfort after Pap tests!. As you described, crampy, sore, very uncomfortable!. Motrin and/or tylenol does help but if it doesn't get better in a few days or it gets much worse, you should call your doc!. Take care!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I get like that too after i get a pap!. Mine usually lasts about two days so I wouldn't worry!. The doctors sometimes really scrape your cervix - all they really need to do is go over it once, but some really scrape the hell out of it!. Depending on how hard the doctor was on your cervix, the longer it will last!.

It's a normal reaction though!. If it lasts longer than a few days or turns into a full blown period, go back to the doctor - they may have done more damage than you thought!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your doctor did a thorough exam, it is possible that the pap test, having her push on and check ovaries, and maybe a check of your uterus by going into your anus, and left you sore or crampy!.

It should not last long, just pushing on things in ways you are not used to having manipulated!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

that has never happened to me and i have been having them each year for the last 6 years!. if it persists i say go back to the dr or the ER! also you NEED to get a pap each year!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I once had a pap come back and they did a biopsy by scrapping and taking cells to test!. I was in so much pain afterwards, cramps and all!. Maybe they scratched you!. Call you gyn!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
