I'm really sorry to know that you're having these problems!. Take heart, though, even though noone ever talks about it, it's extremely common, even among young women!.

You should talk to your doctor about it!. Your treatment options depend on the type of incontinence you have!. The most common type among younger women, called "stress incontinence" is leakage of small amounts of urine when you laugh, cough, sneeze, or exercise!. This can happen to any woman, but is more common if you're overweight and if you've given birth!. The first line treatment is pelvic floor exercises called Kegels!. Make sure you learn to do them correctly!. There are even physical therapists who specialize in pelvic strengthening-you'll find that the exercises are much more effective if you learn to do them right!. If that doesn't work, there are surgical operations that are available and that are very effective!.

The other major type of problem is called "urge incontinence", and is basically when you get sudden strong urges to urinate and can't make it to the bathroom in time before you start peeing!. In these cases, you often lose a large amount of urine (my doctor made the charming distinction that it runs down your leg rather than just making your underwear damp)!. There are several medications on the market that are very effective for this type of incontinence!.

In either case, you should try to avoid foods that are bladder irritants, such as coffee and chocolate!. Keeping a "bladder diary", where you keep track of when you go to the bathroom and when/how much you leak can really help you and your doctor pinpoint the problem!.

While you're waiting to sort this out with your doctor, there are many incontinence products now on the market that are comfortable and discreet to wear and effective in absorbing the urine you leak!. Check out http://hdis!.com or http://www!.aimedicalsupplies!.com!.

Jumping gently on a trampoline is supposed to strengthen them!.
