How to ask your mum about going to the docs...? (girls only)?!

Im 12 and i recently got my period, i've used pads for a while and i was wanting to use tampons because of all the sports i do!.

I've tried to insert the tampon but it wouldn't go in and i couldnt actually see any vaginal opening!.

I'm not sure, but i'm guessing that it could be an irregular hymen!?

I was thinking about getting it checked out by the doctor but im not too sure what to say to my mum!.

or am i just over reacting and 'down there' is supposed to be like that at my age!?
