Question: I had an abnormal pap of ASC-H and had my biopsy yesterday!. Can anyone answer any questions!?
One biopsy was taken at 12 o'clock!. What does this mean!? How serious is this ASC-H!? What's the worst case scenario!? Thank you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
You have ASCUS (not ASC-H) It stands for Atypical Squamous Cells of Undetermined significance!. Paps are screening tests, not diagnostic tests!. The next test you had is called a colposcopy!. Your doc looked at your cervix which looks like a pink donut!. He painted your cervix with vinegar and saw an area at 12:00 (the top of a clock face) and biopsied it!. He will send it to the lab!. He hopefully also checked you for HPV!. Most of these turn out to be benign or precancerous conditions which are easy to treat, usually in the office!. Make CERTAIN you go back for follow ups, and NEVER miss a pap smear!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

ASC-H means ASC with possible HSIL: Some of your cells are not normal and there is a small possibility that they may be precancerous!. Your doctor will probably want to perform a colposcopy, which will allow your doctor to more closely examine your cervix!.

12:00 is the position on the cervix, like the face of a clock!. It marks the position where the biopsy was taken!.

I would not get to overly concerned at this point, especially if all that was taken was 1 specimen, I have seen colpos done where 3 specimens were taken, so you probably do not have a large amount of abnomal cells!. Most often these are benign and often resolve themselfs, the most important thing to remember is follow up as your Dr directs so you can be monitored for additional changes!.
