It's not unheard of, although it's not a common practice!. It is usually done when the doctor suspects there might be a problem (enlargements, growths, adhesions, etc)!.
I've had it done periodically, most recently when they were prepping me for my hysterectomy (to determine whether or not I could keep my ovaries)!.

I did!. I thought it was weird, but my doctor was female, so I figured she was on the up and up!. Probably not usually done by males for fear of being thought a pervert or something!. Also, my husband was in the room at the time, so I think it is probably something that is legit!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
yes they did it to me the other day and i was like wtf are you doing and they explained it's normal they have to check the back of your overies to see if there is bumps or what not there ya i freaked out and he explained but still i am not ok with it so i changed doctors!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Yes, it's normal!. I never had it done but some gynos would do it if you are complaining about pelvic pains so they get a better feel of the ovaries!. And it screens for colon cancer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
