When you put it in for the first time your going to feel it the most because it's an alien object in your vagina!. It's totally normal to feel it and have a little pain the first few times!.

Just make sure you keep it in for no more than 8 hours (I would suggest 6 hours tops)!.

As for you other question, the pad makes it look like it's a lot of blood because being absorbed like that causes it to spread when the same amount of blood goes on a tampon that is very very compacted to give you superior absorbency!.

If it hurts when you walk and sit, take it out and try another later!. You might not have pushed up far up enough into your vagina!. When it is pushed up far enough you won't be able to feel the tampon itself, just the string!. Also it has to just get past the vaginal sphincter muscles to stay in place (vaginal opening)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it is in correctly, your vagina should actually be kind of closed over it and only the string can be seen from outside your body!. If it is hurting, it is either too long or you don't have it in all the way!.

Tampons are compressed very tightly and expand when wet!. That is how they absorb so much!. You should wear a pantyliner or light days pad with them in case they do leak!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm a nurse, and as a woman I've used tampons many times! Can you feel it when you're sitting down and moving around!? If so, it's not in far enough!. When you're a woman, and you're using tampons for the first several times, it can be sore!. It takes times getting use to them, and inserting them properly!. It'll take practice and timeWww@Answer-Health@Com

Does it hurt when you walk!?

It could be that you don't have it in all the way!.
That's what happened to me when I first started using them!.!.!. It was painful!. Just to find out that it wasn't in all the way!. I suggest you buy the tampons that have the rounded, plastic inserts!. They're way easier to put in and less painful!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Everything first time is difficult and unusual - follow all instructions for tampon correct use and insertion (see below)Www@Answer-Health@Com

When a tampon is correctly inserted it shouldn't hurt at all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try it again!. maybe u put it in wrong!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It shouldn't hurt, you shouldn't feel it at all!.
It may be that it is not inserted far enough in!. Also, they are smaller, but you also have to change them regularly too!. They are made of a different matte rial and without the exterior cover and inside cover of a pad, so if you took the insides of a pad and rolled it really tight it probably wouldn't be that different (the thin pads that is)

Tampons are hard first few times!. They are easier when the flow is a bit heavier (lubrication) and you could always try the teen size to start, they are smaller!. You would have to change them more, but would be good to start with!.

Maybe look for the ones with the plastic applicator since they are smoother!. (I think tampax compact is like that, and some other brands but I always forget the names, I just know the box!)Www@Answer-Health@Com
