My period is VERY light right now!. I only have brown-ish discharge and i'm wearing a light tampon!. I've had it in since this morning and it's been over 12 hours!.

Why risk it!? Don't leave it in more than 4 hours!. Toxic shock is MORE likely if you leave the tampon in when your flow is light!. This is because when tampons are left in, they provide a medium for bacteria to grow!. And when your period is light, then the tampon is more absorbency than necessary, and your vagina becomes very dry!. The fluids that would normally cleanse your vagina are being absorbed by the tampon so the bacteria and fluid do not flow out!.
As for that person who said symptoms appear right away--where'd you hear that!? It's not true!. Once it's starts it proceeds very quickly!. But it takes awhile for the symptoms to appear, and you'll likely have removed your tampon by then!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

well considering your period is light right now and your using a tampon, it might take a little harder pull to get the tampon out, but it is good to take it out every 4-8 hours!.!.!.6 at the least if your flow is a little heavy!. but since your period is light right now, i would leave it in for 8 hours at the most and try to take it out!. itll be harder to take it out because its still dry!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Honestly they say with tss you get sick Right away I have had tampons in for 8 hours plus before like overnight when sleeping or something and nothing ever happened to me i say you need to change it sometime soon because it is dangerous but I wouldn't be to concerned Www@Answer-Health@Com

make sure its the lightest possible absorbency and try to keep it at 8 hours max!. bacteria can grow that can lead to a nasty infection!.
