I think that ibuprofen always works better for my menstrual cramps!. You should always be sure not to take it on an empty stomach though because it can irritate your stomach quite badly!. Also, look for a brand that is coated!. You don't have to buy advil or motrin, these are national brands, a generic will do just as well and help you out the same!.

Midol has many different formulas, one with acetaminophen, aspirin and caffeine, one that is naproxen sodium (in the ibuprofen family, but you only take one pill every 12 hours, same thing as Aleve) and an ibuprofen formula!. Goody's powder is basically the same thing as Midol too!.

So really, you have 3 choices when it comes to over the counter pain relief:
-Acetaminophen (tylenol)
-Aspirin (Bayer, also contained in midol, excedrin, goody's powder, sometimes combined with acetaminophen)
-Ibuprofen (family includes naproxen sodium, can cause stomach irritation)

I have always preferred ibuprofen, but you can't take it when you're preggers like I am =(Www@Answer-Health@Com

Motrin, because it contains ibuprofen and therefore reduces swelling!. Tylenol contains acetaminophen which does not help to reduce swelling!. Midol is just a combination of acetaminophen, caffeine, and an antihistamine (which can make you drowsy)!. The Midol formulation for cramps and body aches is just regular ibuprofen so you might as well save some money and buy generic 200 mg ibuprofen!. Naproxen sodium, which is in Aleve, is also good at reducing swelling and pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ibuprofen (Advil) works the best for me!. It is an anti-inflammatory (unlike Tylenol)!. When it first came out as a prescription only drug, it was given out for cramps!. I blessed the person that invented it every month!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I prefer Midol !.!.!. just for the fact it's made just for relieving menstrual cramps!. It always works for me!.

Excedrin (extra strength) works too!.
