Question: My mom has been sleeping the whole day!. She is usually not like this!. Help!?
I am very worried!. She will wake up for a few seconds and talk a little bit but then doze off!. My mom is very skinny and she took an oxycodone and an ibuprofen this morning!. Could she just be a little over-medicated!? She went to dialysis this morning and the doctor asked why she was so konked out and I told her about the oxcodone!. She said "Well since she is so small, one pill could be a little much for her!." Is this the reason why she has slept the WHOLE DAY!? Please help me!. I am very worried!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Because your mom is on dialysis her body can not excrete the drug like normal!. The doctor was probably not concerned this morning because she had just taken the med, however she is still sleepy and that is a long time to sleep!. You should call your family doctor or her dialysis center!. The nurses can help you there!. You should also count how many times a minute she is breathing!. If it is less than 8 you need to dial 911, narcotics such as oxycodone can cause respiratory depression!. You should do that now and then call the nurses!. Good luck!.!.!.!.

why don't you call her family doctor and they will tell you what to do, if not maybe you should call 911 b/c your mom not only took oxycodone but she also mixed it with ibuprofin, this is considered a drug interaction and she could be having a some type of reaction!. Also, you could call any local pharmacy and tell them what your mom took, justy say "i have a drug interaction question i need to talk to the pharmacist" And tell them when and how much your mother took!. ~LexiWww@Answer-Health@Com
Probably!. I was on a high dose of Oxycodone for a while and it really just put me out!. And I'm fairly thin!. So that's probably it!. But if it continues, take her to the ER or doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
oh ya!. oxycodone will knock you out!. especially if you are small!. dont be fooled by it's size!. it is one of the most powerful pain pills out there!.

She is probably just EXTREMELY drowsy
