i took emergency contraception about 5 weeks ago, and am now on the mini pill!. idid 2 pregnancy tests!.!.!.!.i took the emergency pill less than 12 hours after, and both tests are negative!. But my periods have gone MENTAL!. i have had light bleeding on and off for the last 5 weeks!.!. and now is the due date of my period!. and it HAS come but is lasting much longer than normal!.!.!.im on my 6th day!.!.i ususally only have 4 days!.!.and its very light!. is this usual !?Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are other explanations, but of course your prescribing physician had a clear duty to warn you what to expect from the mini pill, which he apparently failed to do!. Virtually 100% of women get what is called dysfunctional (erratic) bleeding on the progesterone only pill, in many cases this may take the form of continuous dribbling of blood that commonly may last up to 3 months!. On an odd occasion it will last as long as 6 months! However as time on the pill increases women tend to then lose their periods until by 12 months 70% are period free!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
This is certainly normal after any hormonal change and Levonelle can do this!. It is also very common within the first few months of starting the pill to have irregular spotting/bleeding!. This should settle down, if this is still happening after another month, see your GP!. It may be this pill isn't suitable for you and a pill change is in order!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
