Does it hurt really bad to have a breast cyst drained !?
I have had a lot of pain in just one breast, it went away and now came back!. I cannot feel any lumps or anything but it's very very sore! I have a GYN appointment tomorrow to check on things but of course, I'm scared and I also want to know on a pain level of 1-10, ten being the worst what is the pain factor of getting cyst drained!? should I plan to take the day off work!? I had this done by needle in my doctor's office, and it didn't hurt much at all!. They numbed the area with a little local anesthetic, which always stings, and I didn't feel anything after that!. It works the same way for a needle biopsy!. I'd put the pain at a 2 or maybe 3 if you have a low pain threshold!.
Mine turned out to be a benign tumor, though, so I had to have surgery to get it removed!. That's done in the hospital day surgery under general anesthesia, and it takes a couple of days to recover!.
If you don't have a lump, they may do a needle biopsy of the area, or they may try hormone therapy or other methods!. It's not necessarily cancer, since most cancerous breast lumps AREN'T painful!. It's hard not to worry, though!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know it seems scary, but I doubt that the pain of having the cyst drained could be much worse than what you are experiencing now, and you will feel better in the long run knowing that you got it taken care of, and not having to worry about it!. Sometimes the anticipation involved is worse than the actual event!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I haven't had this in my breast, BUT having an ovarian cyst burst was awful!.
Better to have it drained then to have ot burst!. If this happens, the fluid can enter your bloodsteam and cause infections!.

Take the day off!.!.!.try to relax and get it done!. After it is all over and you get the results, you can go from there!. It's better to know than not to know!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are worried about it being sore ask the doctor to give you local anaesthetic before the procedure!.
No one else can judge how sore it will be for you, but think of it this way, will it be more sore to endure a minute or two of drainage compared to days/hours of sore breast if you don't have it done!?

The ducts are used during breast feeding, but your body likes to keep them ready to function no matter what age you are!. I had a cyst in my right breast 4 years ago!. Got a mammogram and then an ultrasound!. The ultrasound confirmed it was a cyst!. The doctor told me it wasn't mandatory to get it removed, but I had the doctor remove it!. My mom had breast cancer and I didn't want to take any chances!. It was a very simple procedure!. They deadened the area where the cyst was at and I didn't feel any pain!. The procedure was quick and easy!. It just felt kind of weird having a probe thing going into my breast!. Didn't hurt, though!. Going to the dentist is much, much worse and more painful!. I could drive home after the procedure!. It won't make you feel dizzy or bad or anything!. All they put is a bandaid on it!. Nothing to be afraid of!. It's one of the easiest procedures I had done!. You could certainly go back to work if you have a desk job!. I know they don't like any heavy lifting for awhile after!. I'm sure you'll do fine!. By the way, on a scale of 1-10, I'd say it's only a 1 getting that done!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
