Teenager in need of women's help please?!

Question: Teenager in need of women's help please!?
I'm 15 years old and I am joining the swim team!. The only thing is I have never used a tampon before and I'm scared!. What should I do!? I have a doctors appointment soon and I wanted to ask her (my doctor) about them, but I'm really shy!. (I was thinking she might be able to put my mind at ease!.) How could I ask her!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

As a nurse, I welcome these questions and am always quite happy to answer them!.I know how embarrassing this could feel for you!.I was your age when I had my first papsmear and I thought I would die!
My best advice to you would be to borrow a tampon from a friend or buy some!.Place a compact mirror in your pelvic area and become familiar with your anatomy!.Ie; urethra, vagina, etc!.Then follow the instructions on the box!.It may be a bit uncomfortable at first but once it is in!.!.!. you should not be able to feel it!.
By all means please discuss this with your doctor and please dont be afraid to ask! Nurses and doctor's see EVERYTHING ! not only are we health professionals, we are health educators!.Good luck with the swim team!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not a matter of being scared of tampons, but of being scared of your vagina!. When you're alone, use a mirror and have a look/feel around until you're comfortable with it!.

Never use Tampax!. They leak before they're even half-full!. Playtex Sport is the most comfortable and they're quite effective!. Also, they have plastic applicators, which make insertion much easier!. There should be instructions in the package!. It's no big deal!. Don't try to take it out too early unless it's absolutely necessary!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don't be scared!. I promise that once you start using them you'll prefer them to pads!. the most important thing to remember is to leave them in for no longer than eight hours!.

it sounds really corny, but if you buy a box instructions are enclosed inside!. it couldn't be explained clearer!. also, if it's your first time using them, try the "light" or "regular" variation just to start out!. they even have "teen" variations!. good luck and don't be scared!Www@Answer-Health@Com

you could just say you about to join the swim team and would like i to know a lil bit about tampons!. ok and you don't have to worry just read the directions and it make take a few times before you get it just right if you have problems doing just ask your mom !. k!. hope i helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com

just come right out and ask her!. if shes a good doc!. she will give you some good pointers!. if she makes you feel insecure or bad in any way you need to find a more understanding doc!. that's what docs are supposed to be there for, to help you out with things like that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

casually mention to her that you are joining the swim team!. maybe if shes not taking the bait, then just straight out say that you are worried and you want her to ease your mind!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Just come out and ask her "How do I use a tampon" or whatever question you have about them!. She gets them every day and believe me, she will not think anything about it at all, I promise!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Have your mom show you its not that hard!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
