Is a doctor supposed to wear gloves for a breast exam?!

Question: Is a doctor supposed to wear gloves for a breast exam!?
I am 12 wks pregnant and went into for my first initial pre natal check up, where they do all the fun stuff like pap test and breast exam and such!.!.!.I noticed that when the doctor (a woman) was doing the breast exam she didn't have gloves on, it sort of made me uncomfortable!.!.!.I know she wore gloves for the other exams down there, but it felt gross to have her gropping my breast with her bare hands!.!.I wondered if this is normal, does every doctor do that!? Or do they usually put on gloves!? Just wondering!Www@Answer-Health@Com

its quite normal i have suffered from painful breasts in the past, and i was examined by a male doctor who wore gloves, and i was told there was nothing wrong with me, it was just period related, i wanted a second opinion and was seen and examined by a female doctor who did not wear gloves, and she found a lump!. Who knows! does a bit latex make any difference at all!? at the end of the day they are there to help, and they see and touch hundreds of women daily!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had my prenatal appointment at 9 weeks, and the breast exam was the same as yours!. I think they do it without gloves because gloves an interfere with the exam!. Its normal, and nothing new to them!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think they wear gloves, it might interfere with what they're trying to feel for!.

It doesn't matter, they're breasts, the skin is no different there than the skin on your abdomen or leg!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, doctors don't typically wear gloves for a breast examination!. There is no risk of contamination and can make it hard to feel any abnormal lumps!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

No they dont use gloves for the breast exam, gloves can cause them to miss bumps etc because they are sometimes very hard to feel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
