Metronidazole (Flagyl) worked but now smell and discharge are back a week later?!

Question: Metronidazole (Flagyl) worked but now smell and discharge are back a week later!?
I was put on metronidazole by my gynaecologist as i had smelly discharge!. It worked straight away and I had no discharge or smell!. But now, about 2 weeks later, the smell and discharge have come back! Why is this!? The only conclusion i could come up with is that the bacterial infection is quite strong and has just come back!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hiya,

This is a common problem, you would have been put on these tablets because of bacterial vagina's!.
This is when the bacteria in the vagina becomes out of balance!.
The main symptom is a smelly discharge, some people have no symptoms!.
The tablets you were given is the best way to treat this problem, but with a lot of people it will come back within a few weeks!. If you then take a second course of these tablets this then should remove it completely!. A second course almost always works!.

I too have suffered with this, go to your doctor and explain that it has come back and they will give you the tablets to try again

Good luck

This kind of infection needs longer than a week to go away even with Flagyl!. You need good hygiene (google on how is done properly) for a long period of time in the morning and in the evening, to wash locally after every time you go to the toilet, to repeat the treatment if needed on ob's advice!. Avoid intercourse during the treatment period, use condoms for a while!. Probably your doctor already told you!. It can heal and then it can come back after a while, but with good treatment and hygiene you can get rid of it!. Don't worry, it will pass eventually!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did you leave a tampon up there by mistake!? Do you have a partner suexually!? Was your partner also treated!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
