What do you have to wear during a ultrasound?!

Question: What do you have to wear during a ultrasound!?
Ok so i'm going for my ultrasound today, no i'm not pregnant!.
You have to wear a gown right!? Are you able to wear pants or anything!?
I'm really not comfortable with myself exposed like that to people I don't know!. It will bother me a lot!. I know they are doctors and all but that doesnt make me comfortable with them!. There's nothing wrong with me, i'll just feel violated!. I'm fine with them looking at my stomach and such, but anything lower then that if there is nothing covering me i'll feel extremely wierd and uncomfortable!.
Maybe i'm just overreacting, idk if thats what happens, i've never had an ultrasound before!.

With an abdominal ultrasound, they will most likely have you keep on your pants/socks,remove just your top to put on a gown!.THis way they can get to your abdomen easy and you wil not get Any of the gel on your clothes!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

They will preserve your dignity and will try to put you at ease!. You can keep your undies on, they may need to lower them slightly depending on where they are scanning, but will cover you with paper to keep you decent!. Don't worry it will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

don"t worry they will let you wear a gown plus u will have a sheet over your legs, and private area!. when they r ready they will pull the gown over your stomach and do the ultra sound!.!.!.!.there is really nothing to it!.!.!.!.good luck on your test !!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on what they are ultrasounding, but most of the time you can just wear your normal clothes!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You should be able to wear some panties!. They may just pull them down to the necessary level to see what they need to!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depends on what they are looking for!. Sometimes you just unzip your pants, other times they have you wear a gown!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will have a gown on and you can keep your underwear on, do not worry!. I hope everything comes out ok for you!. :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ultrasound scans (US) nowadays can just be done on your the surface of the abdomen/belly or trans-vaginal!. For the abdomen scan the probe is placed directly of your belly with a conducting gel and moved around to observe your organs!. For this you do not need to remove your pants or underpants!. With trans-vaginal type the probe (with gel) is actually inserted into your vagina and moved from side to side and around to note and watch your uterus, ovaries and cervix!. You do need to remove your pants and underpants and a sheet is placed over you!.
Trans-vaginal US is not usually necessary unless you are going for a gynic problem where observing cysts and fibroids on ovaries and uterine walls can be better done from inside the vagina!. Sometimes for a obese patient trans-vaginal US becomes necessary!. The probe in this case is encased in a sterile, thin condom like sheath and inserted directly up to the cervix!. For a normal check up (routine) I do not think they would do it!. But you have all the right to know what to expect!. When I went in for my US I did not expect anything trans-vaginaly (for a uterus problem) so was a bit shocked!. But it did not hurt and the doctors/technicians were very respectful (both women) and I just held my own for the duration and was able to get through the experience quickly!. But I totally think it was my doctors fault for not informing me about this!.
So do not worry if this is a routine check up- you will get through with the minimal!. If you are still troubled call your doctor and specifically ask about it!. If you are indeed going in for a gynaecological problem it is best to just expect this and accept it- it will give a better picture of your problem and may help resolve it efficiently!. Ask for female technicians and complain if you notice anything unusual!. Wear a skirt if you do not want to have to bare it all (it is not a pelvic exam so no hand touching- just the probe is inserted!. So if you wear a skirt you will have to be on the stirrups and the probe inserted but will not be all exposed)!. But do what is good for your health and will resolve your problem quickly!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
