First period, Girls only please!!!?!

Question: First period, Girls only please!!!!?
I just got my period for the first time today, I really need help! How do I tell my mom!? what do I say!? Also, I have swim team 3 times a week, and I really don't want to skip!. I know how to put in a tampon, is it too early to start wearing one when I swim!? I'm really scared, and I'm feeling a little upset because I wasn't expecting it so soon! Also, could anyone tell me how long one period is supposed to last!?
Please help, and thanks so much for all those who answer!Www@Answer-Health@Com

This is the easiest part of your problem!. Your mom should be expecting it any time!. Just simply tell her you've started your period and get her insite into your other questions!.

" Also, I have swim team 3 times a week, and I really don't want to skip!. I know how to put in a tampon, is it too early to start wearing one when I swim!?"

It's too bad this may interfear with your swim!. Using a tampon when first getting your period may be a little uncomfortable but there are lots of different kinds out there and don't be afraid to buy 2 or 3 small boxes of different types before settling on one!. You should be able to wear these at any time in your period and there is an informative instruction sheet inside!. Be sure not to wear them longer than instructed!.

I know it sux that you've started a new stage in your life that's a little inconvienient to say the least but there is not need to be scared, talk to your mom and your other friends who are going through the same thing!. Everyone is different and your first period may be much shorter than normal or much longer!. On average a girls period where she actually has "flow" is 3-7 days!. For some it starts out light then goes heavy and then back to light!.

Hang in there and don't worry, youll get used to dealing with it!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I just said, Hey mom, I think I started my period!.
It was embarassing, but she is probably expecting it!.
Tampons are awesome! You can wear one anytime-its not too soon!. They also have specific brands designed for teenagers, and first timers!.
They are really unpredictable for the first couple of times- lasting as long as 2 weeks or just 2 days!.
Talk to your mom! She'll be the best help!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Seriously just tell your mum!.!. all i had to do was look at mine and she KNEW what i was about to say - infact i didnt even have to say it!.!.!.

If you have swimming then talk to your mum about using tampons!.!. they are more efficient and once you get the hang of it they are much easier to use and more hygenic! Normally periods last about 4-5 days but it can be 3-7 days!. I wouldn't say it's too early to try tampons, my friend has only had her period 3 times and uses them already and she's fine with them! Don't be upset it is totally normal!!

Hope i helped ;DWww@Answer-Health@Com

I am 13 and got mine for the first time in early April this year!. I didn't get it again until the end of May, and then after that I just got it like, a week ago, so good news, it probably won't be regular for the whole swim season! Most girl's don't start getting it regularly for about a year after their first time!. And to answer how long it lasts- my first time it was 3 days!. Depending on your weight and how physically active you are, it may vary!. The main reason it took me so long to get it again is because I am very involved in sports!. As for telling you mom- my mom and I are very close and I can tell her anything!. I just pulled her aside and said "mom, I got it today!." It was a tad awkward, but gosh was I so happy I told her! She helped me with any questions I had and made it easier on me!. Honestly, I say just pull her aside and tell her!. You'll be happy you did!.
Good luck with swim team by the way!Www@Answer-Health@Com
