How long do chlamydia symptoms last (greenish discharge)?!

Question: How long do chlamydia symptoms last (greenish discharge)!?
I had a swab test about 2 and-a-half weeks ago and they have not been in touch yet to confirm my result!?!?!? the nurse seemed very sure it was chlamydia that was causing a green discharge I was having!. She gave me two or four tablets, I can't remember exactly how many or the name of the tablets (my memory's a little hazy) which I took right there and then!. It is two weeks later and I still have the discharge! Does symptom duration vary from person to person!? Is it all clear or do have to call them or something!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Chlamydia does not tend to cause greenish discharge - it's more likely to be gonorrhoea which causes that!. You will have been given 1000mg of azithromycin as a one off dose to take, and depending on the strength of the tablets they had in stock, you may have taken either 2 or 4 tablets!. If the discharge was due to chlamydia, the azithromycin would have cleared it by now, so it's likely to be due to something else, perhaps gonorrhoea!. I would advise that you get in touch with them for your results, and if they say everything is clear then ask for another appointment for further investigations!.

In reference to the other answers you have been given, if there is a strong suspicion of infection, it is much safer to treat than to wait for the results, which take up to two weeks!. Untreated infection can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease which in turn can cause infertility!. So if we are pretty sure there is infection, we treat it based on our clinical suspicion, rather than leave it to potentially get worse while we wait for the results of the swabs!.

With regard to the actual treatment, chlamydia can be treated EITHER with a one off dose of azithromycin (two to four tablets to make a 1000mg dose) OR with doxycycline which would be 100mg twice a day for 1 week!.

Sorry, it really pisses me off when people think they know stuff and really they don't have a clue and go around telling people they have had the wrong treatment!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

She shouldnt have give you tablets unless it had already been confirmed that the test results show you do indeed have clamydia!. Its normal for women to have a greeny coloured discharge, I get it & I definitely don't have clamydia!. Also, You are only supposed to take 1/2 tablets to get rid of clamydia definitely not 3 or 4!

You need to complain about this nurse!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.she sounds asthough shes going to end up killing someone!. Perhaps go in and see management and complain!. This is all wrong wrong wrong!.

Oh and regarding you're test results!.!. If you do not hear from them upto 2 weeks after taking the test then the test came back negative meaning you do not have clamydia!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They shouldn't have given you any pills!. If it is confirmed you have chlamydia you should make an appointment with your doctor to get a course of anti biotics!. Anti biotics are given out with the intention that the course must be finished even after theres no symptoms!. god knows why the nurse gave you a few!. This could do you more harm than good as it may be the wrong kind of anti - b plus a couple is not going to clear the infection!.
In the mean time phone them for your results!. The quicker a diagnosis the better!.
good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The tablets you took would have been anti-biotics!. That is the way they treat chlamydia these days - they give you one bit hit of anti-biotics rather than a weeks course!.

However they should have called you A!. to confirm the test result, and B!. they normally re-test after giving you the pills to make sure the infection has gone!.

Call them!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

you should be on anti bio tics!. it takes up to three weeks to clear the infection!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
