Question: First gynecological exam !?
Okay so im 13 and ive had my period for 3 weeks!. I told my mom and shes taking me to the gyno!. This will be my first time ever and im a bit scared!.
What should i expect!?
Will it hurt!?

I was pretty scared my first time too!. Just ask the doc to please explain everything he/she is doing!. They do the basics of course like weight, height, temp, blood pressure!. I never got my blood drawn or hormone levels tested or anything like that and I don't know anyone who has experienced that in a basic gyno exam!. You will probably get a pap smear!. It is uncomfortable, I won't lie! they insery a speculum thing that keeps you a little!.!. open!. Take a few swabs that don't hurt at all and then the speculum is taken out!. It only takes up to a minute of discomfort and it's all for a really good cause! They will then feel your ovaries to make sure there are no cysts (they gotta stick in a finger for that, it doesn't hurt at all)!. Then they teach you how to give yourself a self breast exam!. Sometimes that's a little uncomfortable if you are near the start of your period!. Also, I believe they may give you the vaccine for HPV!. Just a quick shot, thats about as painful as it will get! Believe me, this is all for a really good cause!. Bring your mom or a good friend if you want someone to be there!. I personally like to be alone for the visit! They may even suggest a birth control pill to regulate your periods since you have had such a long one! Www@Answer-Health@Com
they'll ask you a lot of questions about your health!. They'll also do the things they do at normal appointments like blood pressure, weight, height, and pulse!. Then the doctor will come in and talk to you about your situation!. They may want to do a pelvic exam!. If so they will leave and have you take off your clothes and put on a gown!. They'll do the exam and have you put your clothes back on!. I'm guessing, that if there is nothing really wrong with you, they will have you start taking the birth control pill, which will help regulate your periods so that you will only have them for 3-5 days!. they will weigh you, take blood pressure, maybe your temperature, probably get some blood drawn to check hormone levels and blood count to make sure you are not anemic!.!.!. there should not be a pelvic exam, just ask you some questions, give you some information and probably prescribe you birth control pills!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Bless your heart! You're in for a lifetime of gyno visits!. Don't worry!. It won't hurt and only lasts a few minutes!. Your mom should be able to go in with you!. The doctor should be very patient, knowing this is your first visit!. Talk to your mom and ask her exactly what will happen!. You'll be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
