Waiting period for abortion instead of guns?!

Question: Waiting period for abortion instead of guns!?
Guns kill about 40,000 people per year in the U!.S, but are also used about 800,000 times per year by private citizens to ward off attacks (less than 4% of those involve a shot being fired)!. In fact, in could be argued we might have more murders without guns; hard to say!. Certainly more assaults!.

We have a 10 day waiting period on purchasing a gun!.

Abortion kills 1,300,000 each year in the U!.S!. (And about 42 million worldwide; that's like WW2 casualties, but against babies!)

In most cases, there is no waiting period on having an abortion!.

If "waiting periods" are intended to save lives by having people cool down and think, then does it not make more sense to have a waiting period on abortion!? And isn't is sort of unnecessary to have one on buying a firearm!?

How many lives could be saved if there were a waiting period on abortion!?

Wow, Dude!. Never thought about it that way!.

The media is always harping about the 4,000 brave sacrifices in Iraq (and we shouldn't forget those), but women are killing 1!.3 million unborn every year in this country!. Every YEAR!?

Wow!. Makes me look at the "fairer sex" in a different light!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Totally disagree with you when you say it isn't needed for firearms!.
Say Joe Blow comes home and catches his wife with another man!. I don't think he should be allowed to go out and by a gun right away, do you!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The longer one waits to have an abortion, the more risk there is in carrying out the procedure, therefore a waiting period doesn't make sense!. The number of lives lost would be greater with a waiting period, because more women would die of complications after or during the procedure!.

As for "killing" unborn children, that depends on how you define a human being, and this is a metaphysical question, not one that can be resolved by science!. Currently, most people do not consider a fertilized ovum to be a human being in the sense of a person one can kill, and so abortions do not involve killing for the majority of the population, at least early in pregnancy!. More people might disagree in the case of late-term abortions, after the fetus is viable independently of the mother, but that is again an argument for early abortions (that is, no waiting periods)!.

For people who do not consider a fetus to be a human being, nobody is killed by abortions, so no amount of argument based on this premise will be persuasive (and the idea of a waiting period to "save" lives that don't exist makes no sense)!. Conversely, for people who believe that human beings become so at conception, all abortion is killing, no matter when in the pregnancy it is performed (and the idea of a waiting period merely delays the "killing")!. And for still others, the dividing line is somewhere in between, between conception and delivery!. There is no way to objectively resolve these issues, so the majority rules!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What on earth makes you think that a woman hasn't been agonizing (not just "thinking") about her abortion for days or even weeks before getting one!? Do you think that most women just shrug and blow it off!? And what can you possibly be basing your opinion on regarding "life"!. A clump of cells incapable of sustaining itself is not "life"!. Even a one celled protozoa can sustain itself!. A zygote or embryo is a parasitic organism!. If it can't sustain itself it is not viable!. You need a reality check and to educate yourself with some sound science!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your question is illogical when you consider the fact that the unborn, while consisting of human dna, are not, in fact, persons thus cannot be killed or murdered!. You are also forgetting that many women who have abortions think about their decision for days or even weeks before calling the clinic, that the further along a pregnancy is the more risk there is for women (either those who are choosing to terminate the pregnancy or those who will be giving birth as childbirth is at least 10 times more dangerous than abortion), you are ignoring the traumatic experiences of an unwanted (as opposed to unplanned) pregnancy and the basic human rights of women over their own bodies!. All of these things, and likely more, that you are so conveniently forgetting are good reasons why women need no legal 'waiting period' for abortion!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
