Question: Abnormal pap test after laser surgery!.!.!.!?
What causes abnormal pap test if I had a laser surgery for cervical dysplasia only 4 months ago!? Does that mean Im gonna have a cancer!? If I would have another surgery, do I have a chance to have normal pap again!? Im so scared!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

What it means is that the laser surgery didn't completely remove all of the odd cells!. The doctor has to walk a fine line when they do the procedure!. He/she wants to get all the affected area, but not any of more of the healthy cervical tissue than is absolutely necessary so they can preserve as much of your cervix as they can!. It's also possible that some of the cells which seemed normal at the time were not quite, and they've since made some changes!. It's also possible that the cervical cells may just be somewhat irritated!. It still doesn't mean you have cancer!. You didn't then, you still don't most likely!. What you have are weird looking cells!. It will mean having another procedure to identify the area in question and get it removed- but yes, you can look forward to a time when hopefully you will return to having normal pap smears!. I'm so sorry you have to have a second go round with this, I wish it would always go perfect the first time!. We have ladies in our clinic have to return a second time as well, on the odd occasion, as well!. Try to hang in there for now, and stay focused on the postitive!. It's not cancer, and it's still treatable and removable!. The doctor tried to be conservative, and it didn't work out!. This time they will likely take a larger area to be more certain!. i had 3 surgerys!.the first one was the cold knife,and when my results came back i still had it,a few days later they did the knife again!.then it was negative!.then a year after that i had it again not as bad as the 1st!./2nd!. time!.they did the cone and gave me one of the gardasil shots!.at 160!.00 a pop!.you need 3!.well i can't afford them at this time!.i just hope the one has held it off!. i wish you the best with yours!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
abnormal paps can be a variety of things and that could mean infections throwing them off!.!.ask for another pap and they will see if the bad cells are back on your cervix maybe its their fault,,maybe they didnt get all the crap off ! Www@Answer-Health@Com
