I found out im pregnant and i told my mom and she made and appointment with the doc but i really hate doctors!. Im scared of what theyll do, so what do they do!? help!!! i have an appointment for this week and im sooo freaked out!. what do they do!? its my first appt!. thanx!.
i have never gotten a pap smear, dont really know what it is

A pap smear is when your doctor uses a metal(sometimes metal, depends on the hospital) tool called a speculum and it opens up your vagina!. She does this so she can swab your cervix and check for any STD's!. No, they don't feel your cervix until you're about 34 weeks, they only swab it!.
You might get an ultrasound, depending on the hospital(i did at my first prenatal appointment)!.
I think they'll do a breast exam too, they did with me!.
The pap smear doesn't hurt if you relax, it's just really uncomfortable!. You might be sore afterwards and you'll bleed(spot) a little!. I know it's hard to relax when they're sticking something in you, I hate when they tell me to relax!. I have to have someone hold my hand i order to relax, it helps alot!.

the first appt they wll just ask you questions about your family history, yadda yadda, they will ask when you last had our period to help determine your due date!.!.!.and abunch of other things!.!.the first appt is just to get to know more about you and a urine test for prove that you are pregnant!.

Basically for a pap smear, you change into a gown, put your feet up into some stirrups, and they'll put a metal thing (a speculum) into your vagina to open it, and then they'll use a long swab to get some cervical fluid!. Then they will usually push on your abdomen so they can feel your uterus and make sure there's no lumps or cysts or anything!. It's not fun, but it's really no big deal!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
Wow ur pregnant and never been to the gyno before!?!? Are u ready to be a mother!?!? besides all that yea at the gyno you lay on a table and out ur legs in these stirrups!. then once ur legs are spread open they stick this metal tool in u to open up ur vagina and then they stil q-tips in u for samples and yes they stick there figners in u as well!. And yes they will take blood since u are pregnant they have to do some tests!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
they sholdnt do anything like this when i went the docs when i had just found out they take your blood preasure and work out the day of your last period an tell you the day your baby will be due, they will make an opp for your first scan and ask you about family history of heart problems, ashma etc

First thing to do is RELAX! I know, easier said than done!. But it will be a much more comfortable process if you're not tense!. First thing they'll do is have you go to the bathroom and pee in a cup!. They do this for a few reasons, to make sure you really are pregnant, to make sure your sugars are at a normal level, etc!. etc!. If you've never had a pap smear, they may do that as well!. This involves you undressing and putting a gown on!. The doctor will come in and give you a breast exam (feel for lumps/abnormalities in the general area)!. You'll be asked to put your feet in the stirrups, ease yourself down to the edge of the table, and relax!. The doctor will insert a speculum that will basically just hold it open, then take a swap and swab your cervix!. This might be a tiny bit uncomfortable, it was my first time!. The doctor may insert some fingers and press on your belly, this is to feel your ovaries/uterus and make sure it's in the right place and there's no abnormalities!. The doctor will probably ask you some questions, when was your last period, are you experiencing anything out of the ordinary, etc!.

at other appointments you just give urine samples and then further into pregnancy you have a few blood tests, which dont hurt, and feel your belly to see what position the baby is in and listen to its heart beat and stuff!.
also you dont have any internal examinations until your in labour and it wont even bother you then cuz you feel like you want to be checked to see how far labour is progressing!!
i had scans of my belly at 3 months and 5 months to check the baby was cool, these are routine aswell, its just rolling a scanner all over your belly (completely painless and really fun cuz you get to see the baby!!)
dont worry about any of it!. theres most likely no horribly invasive appointments coming, i didnt have any!.
