Physical Exam???????????!!!!!!!!!

Many doctors will bring your Mom back at first, then have her leave and the nurse come in during the exam!. You need to tell your Mom exactly what you said here, just that you have nothing to hide, you are just nervous and self conscious, I bet she will understand!. Some school required exams are very basic, listen to heart and lungs, check pulse and blood pressure and that's about it!. Others want a thorough exam!. They may do a blood and urine test just to check for things like elevated sugar or low iron!. The only personal questions they ask are like when your periods started, are they regular!? Are you sexually active!.!.!.which all they need is yes or no, and if yes, are you using protection!. It is actually illegal for them to discuss this with even your parents unless you say it is ok!.!. Then yes, they may do a pelvic exam to check size and shape of uterus and ovaries!. You will remain covered with a sheet, so don't panic about having to sit there naked, and IF the pelvic exam is done they have small instruments for younger girls!. Just be sure and discuss with your doctor or nurse your questions and they should be happy to tell you right up front what they are going to do and talk you through the whole thing!.
