Hi leah!. You are absolutely correct to question this doctor's prescription!. Nexium does not cure any condition and it has serious side effects!.

Nexium inhibits the stomach's ability to produce VITAL stomach acid!. Stomach acid is needed for proper digestion and for protecting the intestinal tract from exposure to infectious organisms!. Consequently, use of Nexium leads to chronic maldigestion and to malabsorption of minerals such as calcium, iron and zinc; and it leads to overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine (where they do NOT belong) - a condition called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth - SIBO!.

SOMETHING is causing your daughter's symptoms!. It might be a food allergy, a generally poor diet (fast foods, processed foods, and junk foods), excessive intake of sugars and sweets, heavy metal toxicities (lead, mercury, etc!.), Celiac Disease, and more!. A competent doctor will work with her to find and fix the underlying problem(s)!.

If the doctor only masks her symptoms with drugs, the underlying problem continues and will lead to more problems in the future (not to mention the serious consequences from the drugs)!.

You may want to find a doctor/health care provider that focuses on CAUSE (not symptoms) and is willing to do the hard work required to find and fix the underlying problem!. A Naturopathic Physician, Chiropractor with advanced training in nutrition, a medical doctor trained in "functional medicine", or a Certified Clinical Nutritionist (CCN) may be a good choice!.

Best wishes and good luck!.

p!.s!. you may also want to start educating yourself on the many causes of ill-defined stomach/digestive symptoms!. I highly recommend a book by Sherry Rogers, M!.D!. called "No More Heartburn"!. She explains the causes and treatment of all types of gastrointestinal problems (not just heartburn)!. The book is available at Amazon!.com!.

Nexium is a very good drug, but just remember not all drugs will work well for all people!. But if your daughter has enough stomach acid to cause reflux (stomach acid backing clear up into the throat and burning the esophagus) then Nexium is a good choice, If the reflux continues untreated it can cause precancerous cells in the throat (Barrett's syndrome) which can eventually lead to throat cancer!. Reflux is exactly what Nexium treats!. If you have questions you should be able to call the doctor and discuss this with him!. If you really do not feel comfortable with the treatment you can always seek a second opinion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

He must think she has acid reflux!. The Nexium should take care of it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if you're unsure about the pills, call her doctor and ask them about it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
