I just remembered that on the day I have surgery, I'll be having my period!. I only wear pads and I'm moderate/heavy!.

Should I reschedule or can they operate while I bleed down there!?

I'm having reconstructive surgery!. Medical reasons!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
don't worry, u can ask to keep a pad on!. my sister had her period during a surgery and she kept a pad on they didnt really care actually;-) my mom also had a surgery during her period but her doctor told her not to put anything on and not to worry about the bleeding on the sheets:-)) think of it as a good luck sign;-)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Doctors have been doing surgery for many years and I'm sure you won't be the first women who's having a period!. It really shouldn't make a difference, but I would speak to your surgeon first!. Where is the reconstructive surgery, if it's abdominal, that may make a difference!. That's your best bet, speak to your surgeonWww@Answer-Health@Com

i remember my mom had surgery, LASIK i think, while she was on her period, and I think what she did to alter/lessen the flow was take a birth control pill!. she said it didn't work completely, but if you want to try that it shouldn't hurt!. Also, ask the doc like everyone else is recommending :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I don't think you'd need to reschedule, but it wouldn't hurt to ask the doctor!.

I had laparoscopic surgery to remove a cyst and an ovary and I was on my period!. I told them and they just made sure to put a pad under me when they were done so when I woke up I wouldn't be sitting in a mess!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi was not sure on this one but my brother luckily is sat with me ( he is a paediatrician) say it should not be a problem even if its vaginal reconstruction but if concerned just ask your doc good luck best wishes with the surgery ;-) x x xWww@Answer-Health@Com

you should talk to your surgeon and ask them because they would know the best!. don't be embarrassed by it because if they do that type of surgery i'm sure you wont be the first one who had to deal with this issue!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you shoulde ask your doctor because most girls during their periods become anemic and your doctor may not want to operate on you if your unstableWww@Answer-Health@Com

talk to them about it but you know when you sleep it seems to be lighter until your body fully wakes up/ it SHOULD be like that!. i mean, your getting knocked out it'll be put on pause i'd think =)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ask the doctor, but in general it is okay to have surgery during your period!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call the surgeon and tell him/her!.
He'll be the only one to answer that question,
