The reason some girls bleed when they lose their virginity is because their hymen is broken!.
It used to be that if you didn't bleed on your wedding night it was a terrible terrible thing and in some cultures the grooms family would wait outside and the groom would bring out the sheets with blood on them to prove his wife was a virgin!.
But in this day and age with some girls being really athletic, riding bikes, horses etc, your hymen can break when you are really young without you knowing anything about it!. Also, using a tampon could break the hymen!.
So yes, totally normal that you didn't bleed!. In fact, I didn't bleed either and I had never used a tampon or had anything inside me before!. But I am a very active person!.

Not everyone will bleed when they lose their virginity - the hymen can be broken during sports (horse riding, gymnastics), foreplay/masturbation or during periods (use of tampons), etc!. So in a lot of cases the hymen will already be broken before 'the first time'!.
So it's perfectly normal not to bleed when you lose your virginity!.
