Implanon contraceptive injection help and advice please?!

Question: Implanon contraceptive injection help and advice please!?
I am 17 and have had the Implanon inplant in for almost two months!. I was told that my bleeding would take about a month to settle down and my body to adjust to the change!. My periods have never been perfectly regular and I was taking microgynon before I got the implant, but I decided that the implant would be a good idea because I often forgot to take my pill!. I stopped taking my pill and had the implant inserted on the day that I was due to start my period (although I didnt actually start)!. For the first month I experienced no side effects at all!. After 1 month I got my period which seemed a little lighter than usual and I had no pain or cramps whatsoever!. This lasted for a few days and then I stopped bleeding but had an unusual brown discharge!. Since then I have had the brown discharge every day but no blood!. I have looked into this and found that it seems to be more common that I originally thought!. This is really worrying me and any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!. Has anybody else experienced brown discharge and if so, when or how is it expected to disappear!? When I had the implant fitted I had a boyfriend but we broke up soon after, this discharge is making me feel dirty and I fear I will not be having any sort of sexual contact any time soon!. Two of my friends also recently got the implant but I am too shy to talk to them about this problem and I would rather not see a doctor!. I am starting to think that it would ne easier to have the implant removed and go back onto the pill seeing as I am not having sex and the implant is causing me such distress, however, as in other cases, I will probably have to keep the implant in for another 2 to 4 months before my nurse will remove it!. Can anyone help me!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there!. I think you just need to give implanon at least 3 or 4 months to adjust to your body!. I've had implanon for over a year now and the first few months things were a bit irregular !.!.!. brown-ish discharge, spotting, bit of cramping and bloating etc, the usual!.

But now, a year later, it's all good!. I don't get my period anymore, I don't get discharge and I very rarely get bloating!. In a year I've maybe had spotting 2 or 3 times!.

Like any type of contraception, the body needs time to adjust and it can knock you around a bit and confuse your menstural patterns but eventually things should settle down!.

Don't stress too much yet as it's still early days!. Give it another month or two and by then things should become more regular, if not, I'm afraid you'll have to chat to your doc about it :(

Good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I haven't had the implant but I have had the mini pill Cerazette which is basically what is in the implanon but in pill form!. I had what you describe as well as bleeding at very irregular intervals!. I hate the way we are supposed to suffer these things just so males can get to come in us without worrying, I refuse to put anything like contraception into my body now and my partner MUST wear a condom AT ALL TIMES if he is wanting to have sex!. I think you should see your doctor or the person who put the implant in for you to discuss this, perhaps they will be more understanding than my doctor and not tell you to basically put up with it so my man didn't have to suffer wearing condoms, and my doctor is a woman!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com
