Call the ED and ask to speak to the doc, nurse or soc worker regarding followup care!. It's is critical !. soft tissue abscesses in that area are dangerous!. They can spread easily and you could lose breast tissue and have a bad outcome!. Please wash your hands, keep the wound covered and take all your antibiotic or pain meds!. If at anytime, pus, odor, redness, inc swelling , hard to move arm, can't sleep occur anytime while on antibiotic or in the next 24-48hrs, you've got to be seen, they could take you to surgery!. Some ED's have a followup in the hospital ED!. If it needs drainage, think about fluid that is stagnant, it grows all types of bacteria!. you in worst case, could lose your breast and not be able to have reconstruction because of poor tissue healing, extreme worst case, death!. or chronic infection and pain!.
the ED or some nice nurse should have given you some extra sterile dressings , wear a soft support bra so it doesn't aggravate where the infection is!. I hope you are not nursing!. I guess you get the message, Do not let this go unattended, esp if you are an Aunt of 12!.!.!.!. they need you !.!.!. get all 12 kids to give you $2!.00 each!. bet they will!.

The importance of getting it drained depends on the size, severity, if it is progressing and if you have any systemic symptoms (i!.e!. vomiting)!.
Systemic symptoms would indicate that the infection has reached your blood stream (aka sepsis)!. Please inform of the size!? Does the lesion have a 'head'!?

I would certainly invest in the Keflex!. Weel worth the money!. If it gets bigger though, it must be drained!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I would have to say that yes it is important!. it is probably painful now and it will only get worse!. Realistically it has probably been there for a while so call and ask your doctor if it can be put off for a few weeks!. You should check in your area for free clinics!. Most hospitals are affiliated with them!. Once you start looking you will be surprised how many are there!. Then you don't need to worry about the cost!. It usually takes a few weeks to set up so check with your doctor to see if it can wait!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Mine eventually went away!. I had to take the same stuff for one on my leg/groin area!. It didn't go away with antibiotics it just shrank and I never did have it drained but now I am fine!. Is it nearby where your bra wire could be causing it!? I would say, if that's the case, to start wearing bras without wire!. Normally something (friction of some sort) is what causes them!. Take the antibiotics and see if that helps and definitely take my advice on the friction matter and you should be fine and not have to have it drained!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
