It depends on the type you get!. Some pills have it set up so you only have a few periods a year (Seasonique is one)!. There is one that lets you skip your period all together (Lybrel)!. The rest of the pills usually just make your periods shorter and lighter!. It also depends on how the pill affects your body, too!.

The shot (Depo) can stop your periods, but it has several side effects that make it not worth it!.

I would suggest talking to your doctor about your options!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Birth control pills will make your periods lighter and less painful, you take them for 3 weeks then take a break for a week, this is the week you have your period!. If you didnt want your period you go straight to the next pack without taking a break!.

It is safe to do this but you must take a break after 3 months I think it is!. You would need to ask your doctor when getting the prescription!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it depends what kind of birth control you looking at

The Pill- will maybe lighten your period, but mostly the pill will regulate your period!.

Depoprovera(aka the needle)- says it will seriously lighten or eliminate you period--- this is flat out bull ****!! depo weakens your bones alot!! I forget what its called, but it takes something out of your bones that is irreplaceable!! i'm 20 and have the bone of a 30 year old, and i was on depo for 2 years!. My sister was on depo to, until she went to the hospital for having her period for 5 months straight!!!!! they tried telling her that that isnt possible, and she pleaded that indeed it was, the hospital wouldn't believe she had it for that long straight and heavy!.!.!.!. until she passed out at school, walking down the hall to the nurses office cause she didn't feel well!!

the Patch- regulates periods, you wear the patch somewhere without hair, but not on your breasts!. I was on this for 2 DAYS!! until i looked up on it, and found out that it was one of the worse one for you, it like tripple your chance of stroke from that of the pill and so many other bad things that WAY overweighed the good things!!

To pick any kind of birthcontrol, talk to your doctor first, but I would recomend the pill over any of the three i named here!

ALTHOUGH!! What ever kind of birthcontrol, one thing they all have in common, is trying to fool your mind into thinking its pregnant, so it stops dropping eggs from your overies, and making the walls inside the uterus slippery or something that makes it very difficult for an egg to attach itself to the uterin wall, this 8is for if you body accidently drops an egg!. Many people experience weight gain (some accompanied by stretch marks), breasts get a little larger, More acne, or less acne!.
Make sure you get any and all information you can about any kinds of birth control you have in mind, and makes sure you get correct information, and the best way to find this out is by talking this a gynecologist or sexual health nurse, you have to find one that will work for you and your body!. Although my sister had serious problems with depo, who knows maybe your doc thinks thats whats best for you -probably not tho!! lol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Usually, if you take them as you are "supposed" to, and have the pill free week, you will just get a light period!. But, you can just skip the sugar pills and go straight to your next pack and skip it all together!. (or nuvaring, you just put a new one in every 4 weeks), you are supposed to let your self have one every so often though, so check with your doctor or nurse to see how often!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most birth control pills you will still have a period, but it will be lighter and less painful!. A friend of mine uses the implant in the arm thingy and she doesnt get her period on that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
