It never ceases to amaze me when I read answers to the questions from a young lady in search for educated answers regarding female anatomy, the hymen, or other gynecologic concerns!.

Why is it that women who answer have no actual knowledge of their own Anatomy!. For petes sake I would think they would research their own anatomy before misleading a young girl with real concerns!.

I will clear up the hymen first and then discuss the procedure in which you mentioned involving removal of the hymen!.

The hymen is a fold of mucous membrane which surrounds or partially covers the external vaginal opening!.

Most common forms of the hymen:

crescent-shaped, crescentic, or posterior rim: no hymenal tissue at the 12 o'clock position; narrow band of tissue starts at 1 or 2 o'clock going clockwise, is at its widest around 6 o'clock, and tapers off at 10 or 11 o'clock

annular, or circumferential: the hymen forms a ring around the vaginal opening!.

redundant; sometimes sleeve-like: folds in on itself, which sometimes causes it to protrude; most common in infancy and at/following puberty due to estrogen levels can be combined with other type such as "annular and redundant"

Less common forms:

fimbriated or denticular: an irregular edge to the hymenal orifice; more likely at an age when estrogen is present

septate: the hymen has one or more bands extending across the opening

cribriform, or microperforate: the hymen stretches completely across the vaginal opening, but is perforated with several holes
labial, or vertical: hymen has an opening from the 12 to the 6 o'clock positions and can look similar to a third set of vulvar lips

imperforate hymen completely covers vaginal orifice; will require minor surgery if it has not corrected itself by puberty to allow menstrual fluids to escape

The hymen is torn or stretched by penetrative sex, and more so when a woman gives birth vaginally

As you read above the imperorate hymen is most common in women looking to have it removed!.These procedures are called a hymenotomy!., and a hymenectomy!.

A hymenotomy is a minor medical procedure involving the surgical removal or opening of the hymen!. It is done to treat imperforate hymen or other situations where the hymen is unusually thick or rigid!. In the case of a person who has a hymen which has no opening, an opening may be created in order to facilitate menstruation!. In situations where the opening is small, the individual may elect for hymenotomy to allow for sexual penetration of their vagina!.

A hymenectomy is a minor surgical procedure which in a nutshell is the excision of the entire hymen!.

I hope this lengthy answer helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

A lot of women are answering thinking you are talking about the usual hymens they have or have heard about!. I see from both questions that you are describing a much more extensive hymen than average!. I have read about this!. It's certainly not unknown in the medical world!. Yes, certainly see a gyno for an evaluation!. You may very well need a minor procedure!. If it needs to be done, I think they use a small scalpel!. Certainly not a dildo!. Of course they would use a local anesthetic!. This is actually called a hymenotomy!. It's in Wikipedia!. Also look up hymen!.

In some women with this variation of a hymen, it cannot be broken by normal sex; the hymen is too extensive!. You said it is thick!?

So yes, see a doc!. And don't feel freakish - there is an unbelievable amount of variation among human bodies!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A lot of girls don't even have a hymen, they broke it, wore it down or stretched it out when they were younger!. If you do have one it's easy to break, just use your fingers or a toy!. If you have sex make sure you're "wet" or use lubricants!.!.!. losing your virginity hurts more because people don't take their time, are too rough and/or because they don't use enough lubricant/don't get things wet enough, not because of a hymen!. It's totally unnecessary to make a gynecologist break your hymen, unless you have a really thick one!. I knew this one girl who had to get hers cut by a gyno, but I think she just had a really bizarre, unbreakable hymen!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ok you can't just go int a gyno and say "hey can u break my hymen!?" b/c that is not what they are there for!. Sometimes when they are doing a vaginal exam, either with their hands or another tool, (not a dildo, ever!) they might accidentally break you're hymen!. and yes, it will hurt a lot!. It stings and burns and is not pleasant!. But I would rather get to say that my boyfriend popped my cherry than my gyno!. So basically, it would hurt the same either way, maybe even more with the gyno b/c you're not wet down their from being all horny!.

Also, the hymen doesn't cover you're vagina!. it is deep inside you're vagina!. And it hurts a lot when you break it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you don't even feel it!.
and that is something personal!.
a gino won't do that!.
the most pain you will have is maybe a little bit of achyness in you thighs!.
almost like you just had a good work out!.
its really no big deal!.
just have sex!.
or go buy yourself a dildo!.
but if someone asks you how you lost your virginity do you really wanna say by a gino or a dildo!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's not that serious unless if your young!. If your older but I doubt it but the younger you are the more its gonna hurt!.!. But will hurt less then having actcal sex !.!.!. Why the hell would you want the doctor to break it!.!. thats weirdWww@Answer-Health@Com

o wow no they dont and you dont wanna do tht guys love virgins and a gyno if some do tht it hurt guys say taking a virginaty and like riding n a brand new car or quad they like itWww@Answer-Health@Com

falling on your *** hard enough can break your hymen, it doesn't mean you're not a virgin!. gyno's dont' use dildos, that's very and seriously wrong!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ive been to the gyno and had sex once (big mistake) my hymen has never been broken yet even tho ive done both!.
