I'm having slight dull pelvic ache after pap smear, is this normal?!

Question: I'm having slight dull pelvic ache after pap smear, is this normal!?
Ok, I admit here that I'm a fool for not getting a pap smear every year like I should!. It's been about three years since I've been sexually active with someone, no signs of STD--my previous pap smears all turned out normal!. I'm still a student and have a job that doesn't offer health benefits since I'm only part time--so therefore, getting a yearly checkup was like on the back burner for me!. Anyway this guy and I started dating about three weeks ago, there's a good chance that things will get serious, so in order to play it safe I decided to go on the pill and have him use a condom!. Planned Parenthood offered me a good deal for a pap check up and STD testing (I told my boyfriend to get tested as well), with pills being only $20 a month!. I've only been with two guys; they were both monogamous with me being their first, condoms were used properly, so I should be clean!. When I went in for my pap smear today, it was uncomfortable, probably because my muscles tense up and it's difficult for me to relax!. Plus, I visualize the graphic scenario of it which is f**k'd up!. The doctor said that everything looked healthy, no signs of infection, but when I went home this afternoon, I felt this dull aching pain which feels like it's from my cervix, nothing debilitating though, been taking Advil!. Is this just a normal reaction due to pressure from the speculum!? Test results take about two weeks, so I hope this slight pain isn't due to some STD that I wasn't aware of having!. I'm calling Planned Parenthood back tomorrow cause I hope there's nothing wrong, is this normal!? Again it's nothing debilitating, there's no bleeding or unusual discharge, but I'm still nervous that it's serious!. Has anyone else had this experience after a checkup!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
It's probably just a reaction from the speculum!.!.!.It isn't exactly everyday that you get your vagina spread apart by a plastic duck looking thing!. I highly doubt its an STD you didn't know about!. It would be very unlikely for something like that to start causing symptoms just because you got a pap smear!. Just relax, take some tylenol and curl up with a heating pad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i have the same problem, i hate it and dont go as often as i should b/c of that, its b/c the doc scrape out a piece of your uterus to send to a lab for tests!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yeah, I always feel lousy after a pap smear!. If there's nothing wrong with me, maybe we're just the same and it's okay!. If it persists, talk to your gyno about it though of course!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have had some bleeding after a pap smear before cus one of the instruments tore the insides of my vaginal walls and it was sore for a day or so

if the pain continues overnight or gets worse go back and see them

it shouldnt take two weeks to get the results!. more like 3-7 days

and in the meantime just stay as calm as you can!. use a heating pad or warm towel to help the pain

best wishes
