I have a male doctor but now that I'm 14 I want a female doctor?!

Question: I have a male doctor but now that I'm 14 I want a female doctor!?
I know my doctor I have now, is a really great doctor, but Its a man, and talking about some "girl stuff" with him, makes me feel really uncomfortable!. I want a female doctor, but my mom loves my doctor so much! I've told her I don't feel comfortable now that I'm this age, but she said that maybe we can get a female doctor when I'm old enough to get some exams!. The word "maybe" doesn't sound good to me!. Could anyone give me some advice!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Once you get old enough for an ObGyn, most women don't even keep regular doctors, let alone go to them!. If you get an ear infection or something then you can still go to your old guy doc, but you wouldn't have to talk "women" stuff with him if you are regularly going to the ObGyn!. That being said, if you have your period, you are probably old enough to see an ObGyn if you want too!. (If you are sexually active you should be for sure, but if you don't want to tell your mom that you could say you have bad cramps and that's why you want to go!.) BUT, if you don't want to go to an ObGyn, you just want a women regular doctor, then your mom should listen!. Maybe if you bring it up again she'll listen!. Or maybe find out doctors your friends see and say, "Hey mom, Julie really loves her doctor, can I try going to see her!?" Your mom should understand!.

If all else fails, and you end up sticking with the guy doctor, just remember that he's a doctor, and he knows all about women problems and hears about them all the time, so it's nothing new or exciting to him, and nothing to be embarrassed about!. Also, you can try telling the nurse (if she's a women) before you see the doctor if you have any "women concerns," and tell her you're a little embarrassed to mention it to the doctor!. Then she could tell him before he came in to see you!. Also, try seeing if there's another (women) doctor at the same practice as your current doctor, and your mom may be more open to that, since the money is still going into that doctor's practice!. You can always call and make your own appointment, then just tell your mom!. Then she'd know how serious you are, hopefully!.

Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have two male doctors and I am 14 as well, just think about it, they are trained to know everything about girls just as much as boys!. When you let them know about your feminine problems, it's just work to them!. My doctor has a daughter the same exact age as me, so that makes me feel a bit more comfortable too!. Also, if your nurse is female, you can discuss some things with her that she will tell the doctor!. Don't worry, it's only awkward and uncomfortable if you let it be!. If it really bothers you, then you can always get a female doctor!. If there are no female doctors at the particular clinic you go to, then I suggest you find one that has some!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Next time you go, mention that now that you are getting older, you are feeling like it is time for a female doctor!. Ask him if he can recommend a female colleage or someone that he has heard that is good!.

Also, you can ask your friends or their moms!. Give the list to your mom!. If you show her that you have done some work on this, she'll see just how important it is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If your family has medical insurance, they probably have to pick from the plan's assigned doctors and can't just change real easy!. Also, if he has known you for a long time, he would want you to feel comfortable speaking to him about "girl things"!.
Maybe he has a nurse in the office that you can talk to or have present!.
When you do need your pap smears and gynecological care, you could also consider going to a clinic where there is a female doctor!.
Just remember that doctors have seen and heard it all and they are usually very good at making people feel comfortable in speaking to them!. Maybe give him a chance!.
DO NOT DO WHAT SOMEONE SAID ABOVE AND REPORT THAT YOUR DOCTOR HAS MADE ADVANCES TOWARD YOU!. DO NOT RUIN SOMEONE'S REPUTATION LEGALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY TO GET YOUR WAY!.
THE PERSON THAT SAID THAT NEEDS HIS HEAD EXAMINED!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My doctor knows nothing about me and i don't trust her, shes still a doctor but i prefer him because he would always change apts!. for other people just to get me in!. when i got exams female dr!. or nurses performed it just ask to talk to a female, no insult attended!. Doctors understand and they will let u get examined by other dr!.'s!. i advise not switching!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it is difficult to talk to a male doctor and if you are really having trouble talking to your mother talk to him he won't be offended he could recommend to your mother to get you a female doctor and a doctor for check ups since it is good to go to one at 13-14 so your familiar with one later!.in lots of states parents have no control over their child's when they reach 13-14 when it comes to doctors!.if all else fails confront your mom if she won't listen try to talk with both of them doctors are caring and will try to do what is most comforting for youWww@Answer-Health@Com

Sit down with your mom and really explain your feelings to her!.!.!.tell her you like your Doctor, but are uncomfortable because he's a man!. She should understand this!. My 13 year old son has a woman Doctor and I just recently asked him if he wanted to switch to a male because I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable!.
In the end it is ultimately mom's decision because you are a minor, I hope she listens to you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I knwo how that feels, but thinka bout it, do you know how many other people he has to talk about that with!? you shoudnt feel nervous, especially if hes a good doctor!. i knwo it can be uncomforatble!. i had this mole on my breast that had to get removed by a male doctor, and i was awake watching him the whole time!. i was relaly scared, but it was no problem, my mom said he went to africa and helped little children there!. do you know how many naked children are there!?!?

so i dont know if i helped!. but really, just remeber that he does this will all of his patient's and that hes a profesinal :]]]

hope i helped!.
if not, then just relly talk to your mother about it!.

Well, I think you should talk to her again!. Tell her that it's really important to you to find a female Dr!. I agree with you, I only see female doctors!. Nothing against male doctors, there is just some things that only females get!. Doctor or not!.

Just keep at the topic with your mom!. Make sure you make some very good points in your defense and make sure to sound very grown up! It will show your mom that your old enough to make this decision on your own!

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, that a tough one!. Talk with your doctor!. The doctor will advocate for you!. Really, doctor's care about their patients in ALL ASPECTS and not themselves or their jobs, or at least they shouldn't--that's just the nature of the work!. So, if you mom's not helping you, tell your doctor how you feel and he'll be happy to help you!. It'll be a weird conversation, but worth it because he'll get you a woman doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hmmmmm I would reason with your mom some more and be very open with her and tell her its SO uncomfortable and awkward to talk to a guy about girl stuff!. Besides its personal and you shouldn't have to talk to someone you dont feel comfortable with about stuff like that!.
hope i helped:)Www@Answer-Health@Com

Aww, I know the feeling, well, almost, because when I was flat (younger) I had a male doctor and I even felt awkward!.!. we didn't even talk about puberty!. You definitely deserve to have a female doctor!. Tell your mom your strong feelings and she'll probably allow you to change!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You actually have every right to talk to your doctor ALONE without your parents in the room!. Tell your doctor how you feel and he can arange it!.!. its not up to your parents to decide which doector in the office you see!.!. Your doctor will COMPLETELY understand if you tell him how you feel!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your mother should respect your decision to have a female doctor!. I don't know why she doesn't, what's up with that!? I don't feel comfortable with male doctors either, I don't know why she's pressuring you to do this!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Lmao, I am a male and I have a female doctor, and I have had to show her my penis many times!. Just suck it up!.

Then again you probably don't have him as a "Family Doctor," so there is no attachment!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you are 14 you are old enough to say who you want to exam your body!. there are privacy laws now, and if your mom doesn't want to, then I believe you would have the right to say something!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Deal with it!. Hes a professional and I am sure he will approach it in a professional manner!. I'm also sure that he has seen thousands of girls without clothes as a medical professional!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you have to STAND up to your mom and tell her that you are VERY uncomftorable and tell her to pretend that she was in your shoes!. Tell her to get a male doctor if it really doesnt matter to herWww@Answer-Health@Com

My doctor that's a female grabs by testicles once a year and makes me cough!. They are doctors, they are there to help you and have heard it ALL before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I like totally agree with this!. Guy doctors are just awkward! I had a guy doctor that I didn't like and just told my mom that he creeps me out and touches me too much! hahah it always works, try telling her that!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

ask her how she would feel at your age with a male doctor!. explain to her that you mom might be comfortable with him but she is older than you and that it is your bodyWww@Answer-Health@Com

i no this might be uncomfortable too, but you should tell your male doctor the way you feel and he can talk to your mom, or assign you a female doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Forget about your Mom! talk directly to the clinic and tell them you want to change doctors!. its about you not her!

Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
