Call your Dr!. - and if he gives you a "pat" answer - like it's normal - then make an appointment with another OB/GYN - because it is not! You need to be checked to make sure your do not have a cyst or fibroid that is causing the bleeding - before damage is done!. Don't wait -Www@Answer-Health@Com

There are a lot of things that can cause a really long period and your doctor should be taking it seriously!. Get a second opinion if your doctor won't help!. I had a friend who had her period for almost two months and found out that she was anemic and had hypothyroid disorder!. After she got treatment, her period finally went back to normal!. The cramps sound like it may be a cyst in your case though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Excessive bleeding is worrisome!.

You describe menometorrhagia, which is heavy, irregular uterine bleeding!.

But why!? If the irregular bleeding is unrelated to an anatomic lesion of your uterus, which usually occurs with annovulation as in polycystic ovarian disease, or adrenal hyperplasia!.

An anatomic cause includes uterine lesions like polyps, cervical lesions like polyps or neoplasia, vaginal lesions like infections or trauma, or bleeding from other sites!.

The doctor said take birth control last time to convert the proliferative endometrium into secretory endometrium which results in predictable bleeding!. That is what birth control does!.

Medroxyprogesterone acetate is very successful!.

You need to go see your ob/gyn!. The bleeding is manageable, but the pain may lead you down another path!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
