What to expect during your first ob/gyn exam?!

Question: What to expect during your first ob/gyn exam!?
Answers:
After chatting with your care provider, feeling somewhat vulnerable and exposed in your gown with a paper drape on your lap, you'll lie down on the table and be asked to scoot your butt forward to the edge of the table!. You'll put your feet in the stirrups and generally he or she will describe to you what they are doing so there are no surprises!.

Your labia will be parted and a speculum will be inserted then clocked into an open position!. This instrument opens your vagina so the care provider can see inside to perform a pap smear!. It only takes half a minute or so, and causes just a little discomfort, but it's so bad!. Next, he or she will insert a couple of fingers into you and feel your uterus and ovaries!. Sometimes they also insert a finger into your anus to check that everything's okay there too!. It's quick, the fingers are lubricated, and aside from a little assault to your dignity, it's not so bad!.

Either before or after the pelvic exam he or she will most likely perform a breast exam, and ask you if you do so on a regular basis!. If you don't or don't know how, ask and they will give you a run down on what to do!. It's again quick and easy!.

The whole process causes lots of stress for many women, but it's really not painful and very necessary!. So, just do it! After the exam, you'll talk more about any concerns, birth control, whatever you need to talk about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Most OB/GYN's will meet you in their office where they will go over your past medical history and go over any paper work with you!. They will also answer any questions you may have regarding why you came in!. After you have finished speaking with the doctor in his office, you then will go to an exam room where they will have you undress from your waist down where he can perform a pap smear!. IF you are pregnant, they will also perform an u/s where you may or may not see your babies heartbeat (depending how far along you are)!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Expect the doctor to ask you questions!. Then the doctor has to examine you, they tell you what they will do before they do it!. They will use fingers first, and then will do a swabbing in order to complete the pap testing!. Overall, it's uncomfortable and weird, but necessary if you want to make sure you are healthy! And remember, they are doctors, they are there to help and they have seen it all! Good luck :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
