A 17 day menstrual cycle?!

Question: A 17 day menstrual cycle?
I am 36 years of age and childless. I have been having 21 day cycles for at least 2 years now so I have long suspected that I am peri-menopausal. This last cycle was for 17 days only.

My question is really this - is this the beginning of the end or is this unusual? Do I need to discuss this with my Doctor or is this perfectly normal and likely to become a regular occurrence.

definitely you need to check with the doctor !! cause a normal cycle should be from 25 to 28 days, a 21 day cycle is still normal for your age but a 17 days it means that your pre-ovulation is short due to either oestrogen decrease or progesterone increase, and as known progesterone increase should start after ovulation cause it is null in the pre-ovulation phase since the follicles are not mature enough to secret this hormone..
for a conclusion you are having irregular hormonal secretion that is causing this.. don be afraid he will give you pills to take for 6 month that will regulate this abnormality. and you are still 36 definitely you're not a menopausal yet.. the rate of having a menopause at the age of 36 is null 0% you still have till the age of 39... you have 2500 follicle in each sac of the womb. so if you regulate your hormonal changes you will have chance of 39 and 40.

no offense but that isnt normal mine are only like 5 days long..so if i were you i would go get checked out as soon as possible

you need to get checked out.
