Girls only......Please help!?!

Question: Girls only......Please help!?
I am 14 years old and still a virgin but I masturbate through clitoral stimulation only. I can't remember when I noticed it but my vagina seems to smell quite fishy. I shower twice a day (morning and night) but a few hours after showering it seems to smell again. I would do anything to avoid going to a gynecologist, so if you have any useful ideas please let me know.
P.s: I would really like to avoid telling my mum about this as it's kind of embarrassing ...

Thanks x

I'd try to stay away from putting any deodorants down there. You might notice that your scent is different during your cycle. Some women have a stronger scent like you've described, just before having their periods, and then at other times, a scent that is less powerful.
As long as you are clean, and have no major discharge, no bleeding, and have no health problems, don't worry about it. It's your natural scent.

I've noticed that some folks have suggested that you have an infection. This is possible yes, but, unless you are sexually active, and / or inserting dirty objects in to your vaginal opening, including your fingers, it's probably what I said above, simply a part of your natural cycle and scent.

Also, if you are not 100% clean , that is if you go to the bathroom, and even a tiny bit of "left over", can combine with urine and create a similar off-putting odor. Yes, "gross" I suppose, but it is how are are "made", so we have to try to be as clean as we can!

Finally, yes , you should be able to talk to your mom. You don't have to tell her you are touching yourself. Simply ask about the other part of your issue, and she will be your best source of trusted advice. Your mom has very likely experienced everything and more of what you have!

Good luck!

Rebbeca's answer isn't the correct answer. Douching is not a natural thing. If it was, your vagina would come with a water hose. Spraying deodorant 'down there' isn't the answer, and it only temporarily masks the problem. In spite of your sexual activity, it seems like you have what is referred to as bacterial vaginosis. This can be caused by several things, should be addressed by a gynecologist and you should receive meds for this. Take care of your body, don't be too embarrassed to talk to your mum about it. This is pretty common, actually, and nothing to be ashamed of. Your mum has probably experienced it in her life. Most women do. Though you are not a woman, it's ok to explore your body if you are curious. Just don't do anything stupid like insert objects not meant for that orifice. Also, bacterial vaginosis is a blanket term meaning you have a bacterial infection of a non-specific type (until you see your doctor and he finds out what it is), as there are several types that can cause odors and discharge, depending on what's "up". See your doctor. A simple antibiotic will help.

its just an infection, and you didnt get it from masturbating. Girls get it from time to time. Make sure you use white unscented soap and wash thoroughly down there, inbetween your 'lips'. As for the smell, you can tell your mother and go to the docter (nothing to be embarrassed about, this is normal) or you can buy over the counter cream. Speak to your mother though just to be save, you dont even need to mention the masturbation

It's normal for your vagina to have it's own smell. It's often described as a fishy smell, so I really don't think you have anything to worry about. Don't use any sprays or douches on your vagina, it's self cleaning and those products can irritate it.

get some deodorant spray for down there. it's a special one just for the vagina and the reason it smells is because of your pee

to patti: actually it is the right answer and you spelled my name wrong. kthxbai
