Bleeding problems with an implant....help?!

Question: Bleeding problems with an implant....help?
I have an implanon contraceptive implant for 2 years, and have always had irregular periods, which hasn't bothered me.

I have had a new partner for just over 2 months and since we've started having sex,i've been getting really bad cramps, and i've had extremely heavy bleeding for nearly 3 weeks now, which is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and extreme fatigue.
I used to abuse painkillers and inhalants last year as I suffered from depression and am freaking out that this may have damaged the implant.

Anyone have any ideas? the bleeding looks like it's not going to get lighter anytime soon. :/

I'm not sure that inhalants would effect Implanon, but too many painkillers would. You may be pregnant, or those could just be side effects...those are all more common side effects of Implanon. All except the bleeding for 3 weeks...that's not normal. You should see a doctor about that- if left untreated, you may develop anemia. You really should see a doctor about that, and the sooner, the better. good luck, I hope it all works out. (ps: depression is also a side effect, so Implanon may have caused that too lol)

Please do talk with your gyn asap. Regarding the inhalant use, I'm glad that you're not huffing anymore. My friend has a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from inhalant use at the age of 12, now in her 30s.

It's time to see your gynecologist, dear. Anytime you have bleeding that goes more than 10 days, it's time to be seen. The hormones in the implant may not be releasing properly, or you could have some other problem with it. At any rate, you simply can't continue bleeding like you are doing. That will quickly leave you anemic, and cause problems due to that. It's doubtful that your past abuse has done anything to the implant, although it would be necessary to check other things out to be sure you haven't damaged your liver or lungs. Just be honest with your doctor about what's happened in the past year, and go from there. What counts now is getting the bleeding under control and you back in healthy shape. Please, just go see the doctor.
