there are risks with every hormonal birth control method. from what I know, the pill actually decreases the risk of cervical cancers, if anything. I don't know of any method that doesn't have risks, at least any hormonal method. I'd say stick to condoms or something if you're going to freak over side effects, b/c they all have them, and cervical cancer is one of them. it is really rare though, fyi, if any do increase risk for cervical cancer, the risk is minute, and with regular checkups, can be avoided and caught quickly if it is there.
oh, and men answer in the women's heath section, because they have opinions as well, since most of them have girlfriends or wives who may have experiences that can help. Birth control isn't limited to a woman's topic, everyone has different info, and if a guy knows someone on a method that you're looking for, you should want him to answer instead of getting snippy about gender. just a thought.

There have been plenty of scientific studies on birth control pills, and many of those have concluded that the pill actually decreases the risk of cervical cancer. If you're worried that hormonal methods of birth control could cause cancer, your best bet would be to avoid hormonal methods all together. Speak to your doctor about getting a diaphragm or a non-hormonal IUD. Both the implanon and mini-pill contain hormones, and are therefore just as likely to result in the same outcome as those you're worried about with the regular pill and the depo.
