Should an 18 year old girl take a multivitamin?!

Question: Should an 18 year old girl take a multivitamin?
I'm 18 and I'm concerned that I'm not getting enough vitamins in my diet. I'm also concerned about getting enough calcium. I try to eat healthy but I feel like there's no way I'm getting all of the vitamins I need. Should I take a multivitamin? How do I pick which one to take?

Answers:

If you want very expensive pee, sure. The amount of vitamins and minerals in a multivitamin pill can't possibly be absorbed in one day, and there's some things that too much of can be as bad as not enough of. So if you feel there's something off, see a doctor. If they tell you that you have a deficiency, then take a vitamin for what you need. Otherwise, keep eating healthy and being healthy in general, and don't worry if you feel fine.

I'm 17, 18 next month, and I take a daily multivitamin to keep all my iron, b12, and other vitamin levels in check. It is not dangerous to take a multivitamin, and they do not need to be prescribed as you probably already know. The ones you need prescription for are the heavy iron pills because too much iron is very harmful, etc. Anyway, I suggest you start taking one; most multivitamins have calcium in them. However, taking a multivitamin is not a substitute for a healthy diet, you need to keep eating healthy too.
The one I take is called "One-A-Day Weight Smart", although I have no concern about my weight at all. The pharmacist recommended that one to me, as she said it was great for people my age. I suggest you take a look at that one, it's been working fantastically for me.

I have many doctors in my family and recently they were saying that multivitamins are linked to some metabolic problems and cancer. Multivitamins contain WAY more vitamins then you actually need, but commercials try to make everyone think the need them in order to sell a product. Just make an effort to eat a variety of things and stay away from vitamins.

yes. try to pick one that has the vitamins in the foods that you are not eating. adults take multi vitamins too.

do not take multivitamin instead just eat vitamin
